Iceman 29
The 12-pounder QF 12 cwt naval gun is a 3-inch (76 mm) multi-purpose gun built by the British from the 1890s. Designed to equip the Royal Navy's "27-knot" destroyers, it also equipped several armed trawlers and served as coastal artillery. It was then purchased and produced under the name of 76.2 mm/40 Type 41 gun by Japan, which made it the standard secondary armament of its ships between 1890 and 1920. Italy bought and produced them under license by Ansaldo; they were used for anti-aircraft defence during the Second World War. http://www.navweaps.com/Weapons/WNBR_3-40_mk1.php QF 12 pounder 12 cwt naval gun (serial #11107), CPP 1943. The QF 12 pounder 12 cwt was a 3-inch (76 mm) multipurpose naval gun introduced in 1894 and used until the mid-20th century. It was produced by Armstrong Whitworth, Elswick in England for use on warships, and exported to Allied countries. In British service, "12 pounder" was a round reference to the weight of the projectile and "12 cwt" referred to the weight of the gun and breech: 12 quintals = 12 X 112 pounds = 1,344 pounds, to differentiate it from other 12 pound guns. I have done some research and found my match. This book from the John Lambert collection ( the same as for the armed trawlers) contains all the necessary information and drawings. I also made a harvest of other photos always useful for the 3D drawing:
Iceman 29
Advances of the day on the 76mm 3 inch or 12 pounder gun with the "World War II" pedestal. These 4 HD photos of ©️ Andy Mabbett taken in Birmingham, UK, in a garden ( Communal? )... help me a lot.
Iceman 29
Definite advances on this more complex than it looks cannon pedestal.
Iceman 29
This gun is not far from being finished. There are still some small flaws to remove, the sighting system and finish the breech. There are a number of breech variants, with more or less safety system. Then I would switch to the WW1 version. More simple. 11

Andreas.R
Hello Pascal the 3D rendering is looking even better than the real thing! Phantastic!
Iceman 29
Paint and patina pronounced. Tamiya's Lacquer Paint is great to apply and the result is remarkably uniform, more robust. Nothing to do with acrylic. It covers very well. I never used this type of paint before.

Iceman 29
Thanks Guy! 😜 I forced the aging, I wouldn't have done so much for myself, but it's a request. It's for the "Lady Mac B." / HMT classe Round Table 1:33 scale. I have started drawing the WWI version. For the "Inchview" / HMT classe Strath 1:33 scale. No plan for this version, some pictures will help me, including this one: Giuseppe Verdi SS (1915~1928) Yamato Maru (+1943) On 13 September 1943, the American submarine Snook (SS-279) torpedoed and sank the Japanese military transport YAMATO MARU (ex-Italian GIUSEPPE VERDI). The YAMATO MARU was en route from Mutsure to Keelung with 916 passengers, 3340 tons of cargo and 3000 kg of mail. Four crew members and 29 passengers were killed. The destroyer escort SHIOKAZE dropped 14 depth charges and although it claimed destruction, the SNOOK emerged from the encounter to fight again. Steve D
Pascal, Sorry for the short reply yesterday, I had to go out and didn't have time to study this thread in detail. The drawings are amazing as I would expect from you, stunning work. I have a real interest in guns as you know (though I prefer to make mine in brass) so I now how complex this stuff is to transpose from 2D drawings to 3D, Plus, for printed detail, you need to consider what will actually print as the temptation to be totally accurate can result in unprintable or lost detail. It's an art I'm working on myself so I know how challenging it is Anyway, great work as ever, always a pleasure to watch and this thread is also a valuable archive for the 12 cwt guns, a few pictures there I didn't have 👍 Cheers Steve
IronBridge
Would you be willing to share the files for the gun please? You see I actually own an old shell casing from a 12pdr 12cwt gun and would love to 3D print my own gun as I believe it would be of great use to explain to others what it was used in. Iceman 29
1:15 Version. This version will be used for a presentation on a base of 4 WW2 guns: 12 pounder, Oerlikon, Hotchkiss 13.2mm, Bofors 40 mm.
