exdraken
Hello, although I did not fully finish my Mig-23 till now,(http://www.britmodel...topic=234918437) I couldn't resist starting something new, and hopefully more straightforward!Revell Eurofighter 1/48 with additional decals from an Austrian company, decalfactory.at the rest OOB.it will be 7L -WE or -WL in single tank configuration, as recently seen at the Nato Air Day in Ostrava:Maybe I add some Iris-Ts...As you can see, the red an the national insigna is slightly different, I don't know yet which one is more accurate! Any ideas?Currently i am battling with the airbrake... its fit is only mediocre...Thanks for looking, input always wellcome! Lex77
Some nice progres so far. Got this one and the two seater in the stash so will be following this one! The airbrake and the air intakes are the most problematic parts of this kit!
Max Headroom
Ex Draken! Very interesting so far, especially having it with the J-10. If the airbrake is a bad fit then have it open :-) Trevor
Alan P
A modern dogfight double! Interesting comparison, I'm sure the Trumpeter kit will give you less trouble though! Al
PaulR
I am keen to see this done! Didn't know the Austria had fuel tanks- do they borrow them when needed? also, what paint are you intending to use for the austrian machines? I'm planning Tamiya xf-66 for my 1/72 version. looking forward to more updates as and when. Paul

And they started using them as well Color wise, the Revel instruction would suggest the same colors as for German Eurofighters... that is definitely wrong. Pinned BM thread on this topic says that Austria uses the same colors as Spain.. haven't decided yet! ... The airbrake and the air intakes are the most problematic parts of this kit! airbrake is solved, had to this the edges down quite a lot, intakes are a part on their own though not sooo nice to do, and they end up in some blank 2 inches inside.... Thanks for your heads up! exdraken Edited November 13, 2012 by exdraken
exdraken
some small update: Eurofighter general view, airbrake fitting problems more or less solved intakes still without lips underside Comparison with the J-10A Vigorous Dragon: cockpit detail cannon an seat J-10 (canon is tiny compared to Eduard's GSh-23 from the MiG-21....) thanks for comments, exdraken Edited November 22, 2012 by exdraken
Dave A
Coming on nicely. They do look spookily similar from some angles, don't they?
Parabat
Coming on nicely. They do look spookily similar from some angles, don't they? The 'missing link' is the IAI Lavi, put the three in a line-up, (L-R) Typhoon, Lavi and J-10 and you can see the similarities...
HOUSTON
WOW, Nice work!
Dave A
Yes, the Lavi link to the J-10 is evident - does rather suggest that the Typhoon design-team weren't exactly 'thinking out of the box' though!
exdraken
Yeah, the J-10 seems to be inspired by the Lavi... different engine (obviously) and the Lavi is smaller I think. Lavi's wingform seems o be more intersting.
exdraken
some update on my double feature, basic paint work is done, after some headache concerning the Austrian colors.... a lot of mixing and comparing eventually... Revell color suggestions are kind of useless, as they make you paint Eurofighter's of all users the same... together with its Chinese colleague: J-10 solo. with future loadout: metal primed nozzle: front end: thanks for any kind of critics and comments! exdraken
This is looking great, is that the kit pitot or brass aftermarket for the J-10? It is Dream Model's turned metal one! I really like it
exdraken
Update:  birds are decaled finally!  mostly kits decals, apart from Austrian National insignia Revell printed too dark. They are sourced from a sheet from IPMS Austria for their correct = bigger size on the wings,  codes come from  www.decalfactory.at. They went on like a dream ;-) !!   thanks, feedback wellcome! Mozzy19
Looking good, the eurofighter is a much better looking design than the J 10
Dave A
Nah, the J-10's a bit tail-heavy, aesthetically, but the canard-placement on the Typhoon is never going to win it a beauty-contest: who wants a fighter with a droopy moustache?
exdraken
I think the J-10 has rather small wings compared to its fin. And yes, Nah, the J-10's a bit tail-heavy, aesthetically, but the canard-placement on the Typhoon is never going to win it a beauty-contest: who wants a fighter with a droopy moustache? The Rafale is far more eye pleasing!! ;-)
Mozzy19
The droopy moustache makes it look more British...... The Rafale does look better, much sleeker looking.
