1-48 Airfix Spitfire XIX "The Last" OOB - Done!
PlaStix replied to Caerbannog's topic in Edgar Brooks Memorial Group Build
It certainly is looking rather good under it's coat of paint. I think the difference in appearance may be due to automatic settings on your camera and the fact one is taken against a light background and a dark one in the other. Kind regards, Stix- 67 replies

Not a lot to show for this morning's efforts - mostly spent the time waiting for the Pledge, which I applied over the fuselage decals, to dry. So most of the time I was working on my Hurricane build - http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235002201-airfix-172-mki-hurricane-eduard-pe-cmk-wheels-update-140516/?p=2353250 Once the Pledge was suitably dry I masked the cockpit area and then gave it a light coat of Humbrol's matt varnish from a rattlecan: More tomorrow. Comments and suggestions welcome. Kind regards, Stix

Fiddly bits today!! First, while waiting for the Pledge coat to dry over the fuselage decals on my Spitfire build, I got a bit more done on this Hurricane build. I decided I'd get some of the cockpit related PE installed. Seatbelts: .......and on the cockpit sides: I managed to loose two of the smallest bits of PE to the kitchen flooring monster but once the fuselage is closed up it won't be noticeable that they're not in place. More tomorrow if I get chance while finishing off the Spitfire. Comments and suggestions welcome. Kind regards, Stix

Excellent progress Steve. Glad you were able to get a reasonable fit of most of the fuselage. Kind regards, Stix

Hi Jaime. No problem and thank you. The grass tufts I used were from Silfor - I got them many, many years ago during my model railway making days. Thank you for the link Phil. Kind regards, Stix

It really is all coming together beautifully. I love all the tonal variations in the camo colours! Hope you have a great weekend. Kind regards, Stix

Hi Kevin. That is really progressing well so far. I like all your added detailing - it's really going to make it something special. Are you going to make your blue lights flash? From your post it looks like they're just on. I made the Revell Schlingmann LF 20/16 not long after getting back into modelling and I bought a cheap electronics kit from Maplins to get them to look like they work. The electronics kit was really easy to make up but it only allows the lights to flash on/off alternately but it's not a bad effect. There a video of mine here. Apologies if you've already got something sorted. Kind regards, Stix
