  1. Yes its XF62, i think Tamiya do the same olive drab in an enamel too though? You can also get it in a rattle can, TS-5 for standard Olive Drab or a slightly lighter version (Olive Drab 2) which is TS-28, might give you a better finish than brush painted enamel
  2. I think wheel well colours varied quite a lot on the various models of mustangs, ive seen green, yellow, silver and even black before on A, B & C models but only ever seen silver on D's
  3. I did quite a lot of research on this particular plane when i made my 1/48th version, and by far the best colour match that i found was Tamiya's Olive Drab. It looks rather green in the pot, but when it dries, its true colour comes out. Tamiya's Neutral Grey for the undersides is also a great match and much darker than people imagine it to be. I made mine as accurate to the time as possible with red outer main wheel hubs, red tail wheel, red and white spinner and tail stripes top and bottom. Couple of pics for reference...
  4. That's outstanding! Weathered to perfection too, what a great looking plane!
  5. Thanks for all the kind comments guys, very much appreciated Thats the one thing that really annoyed me with this kit, you can either make it with the engine visible or hidden, there is no option for just removing the panels to see the engine when you want to so i chose to have the nose end closed up. I have another 1/32 eduard 109 though so i'll do that with the cowling off
  6. Thats a beauty, loving the undercarriage too, i wish i'd got that when i made this beast! Will definitely have to get it for the next one
  7. Morning chaps, Finished yesterday, Eduard's BF 109 E-7 Trop in 1/32. Not the best kit I've ever built, there are a few fit issues and some of the panel lines are a bit big, but the shape is accurate and it looks good when its together. I lost my mojo on this build big time, so it felt like it took ages to finish, also made a few mess ups along the way but i think it came out okay in the end. I couldn't find many pictures of the original aircraft, a machine taken from service in northern France that was converted to a Trop in the field and retained its standard camo colours, but what i did find showed it was in good condition and had very little weathering considering it ended up operating in the desert over Libya, so I've left it relatively fresh looking. The only weathering its had is a wash with Flory Dark Dirt wash and a little work on the exhausts with AK pigments. Paints used were Xtracrylix and Gunze, finished off with a coat of Vallejo Matt varnish. Enjoy
  8. What a beauty, id love to find this kit!
  9. A couple of good coats of Alclad Aqua Gloss worked magic on the dials, with just a light misting of Vallejo Matt over them to finish off
  10. Hi Joachim, Thanks for the kind words... I really like the new AK Xtreme range, have you tried them yet? Easier to work with than Alclads i find but they still pull off with masking tape if you dont give them a good 12 hours at least to dry. I found that out the hard way on this build unfortunately. Mark
  11. 'Tarheel Hal' was my second choice, i got the decals for that so will use them when i build my other Tamiya P-47, definitely another great scheme. PlaStix did a cracking build with the black and white chequer kit decals, its on page 11 or 12 if you want to take a look, they look really good when they're done. I just didnt use them because me and Tamiya decals arent the best of friends lol
  12. You definitely inspired me to crack on with this one after seeing yours, so thanks for that, loved building it
