Jaffe284 Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 Are those missile options correct? Seems like there are both Aim-9D and Aim-9J among the options available? Or is it just my eyes? Anyway - think I have to have this one - always liked the MiG-23
Antoine Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 Those are not sidewinders, but different versions of the R-3, I think.
Giorgio N Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 Finally ! Wonder if RV will scale to 1/48 their decal sheet...

The MiG-23 was designed in 1964-66 as a successor to the MiG-21. In addition to a much more powerful engine, the MiG-23's most significant new feature was its variable sweep wing. Like the USAF's swing wing F-111, the sweep of the wings could be changed in flight. Fully spread, this gives a shorter takeoff/landing roll while carrying a heavier weapons load. With the wings fully swept back, the MiG-23 has greater speed. The wing has three sweep settings: 16, 45, and 72 degrees. The prototype first flew in April 1967 and MiG-23s began entering operational service in 1971. V.P. Edited November 30, 2014 by Homebee

fu_manchu Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 Someone over at ARC forums claims that the nose is inaccuate How they can tell from the sprueshots is incredible!!!! I think its based on the fact its believed to be a scaled down version of the 1/32 kit which has an 'inaccurate' nose. I guess it needs to be kept in perspective, no-one else is likely to tool one and its leagues better than the older Esci one! Ian
Tim T Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 Hannants have this listed as a future release at £34.99. A bit more expensive than originally thought, but not a bad price given the size of the beast.
Parabat Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 (edited) Harrarujah! Thank you Tlumpeter! Was looking at getting an Italeri one.... No more! Definitely Gaston Syndrome if the nose has already been declared 'wrong' ! Edited July 20, 2012 by Parabat
