Tim Moff
Hmmm....I have a 1/48 Airfix kit in the stash but all I hear is that it needs clamping and beating together....not sure I am ready for that after a hiatus of 2 years and what has amounted to a cage fight with a Tarangus Lansen that we will call a draw for now..... I have 2 x 1/72 kits built, 1 x RN Match box and an RAF Winter Airfix old tool, I am not sure if I should just buy another 1/72 - looking at estimates the RAF S2B is not out til the autumn so it leaves the S2C RN with no bulge bomb bay....I suppose I could built an early RAF S2 ad Xtradecal have sets..... What colour has anyone used for the RN 'Squirrel' scheme?
Col.
An early RAF S2 sound prefectly fine to me @Tim Moff and one of the less common options with Light Aircraft Grey as well so even better

From some of the references I’ve seen it looks slightly darker than medium sea grey, but it was a gloss finish which may account for the darker tone. 🤔
Enzo the Magnificent
Air Graphics have released a bulged bombay and RAF-style wing tanks in resin. With a bit of filler work on the tailplane fairings, these should allow an RAF S2B to be built from the Airfix kit. https://air-graphics.uk/shop/ols/products/ac-238-buccaneer-smk-2b-bomb-bay-fuel-tank https://air-graphics.uk/shop/ols/products/ac-237-hs-buccaneer-smk2b-large-slipper-tanks

Interesting as the later RAF version is down as MSG with LAG lower wings, but seems to be slightly different to the RN Squirrel Grey? Some talk on this thread, RAL 7000 mentioned. https://www.whatifmodellers.com/index.php?topic=40898.0 The bottom one would be nice if decals were available... @Habu12 seems to have nailed it, wonder what colour he used.... Still undecided as to wether I need another 1/72 being a more 1/48 person.... Airfix old tool FROG RN

SAM Vol.41 Issue 10, December 2019. Paul Lucas looks at the various options, various source documents etc, then posits that it is most likely a Sea Grey of the Dark or Medium persuasion and that 'squirrel grey' is more than likely a colloquial term rather than official nomenclature. It is well worth a read if you can lay your hands on a copy (I'd happily scan you a copy but I don't have a scanner or access to one at the mo). As an aside, the late two tone grey scheme on RAF Buccs was MSG uppers with Camouflage (Barley) Grey under the wings and a small part of the lower fuselage up to, but not including, the bomb bay door. It would save trying to find a new nose and all the tail stuff that is required for that kit. Edited April 23, 2020 by Jabba
nimrod54
I just want to send a big thank you to @Enzo Matrix for arranging all the GB's that I am interested in for the lockdown period. It has stopped me getting bored during my enforced shut in. 1 1

But it wasn't me wot arranged them. I just provide a place for them. The real credit goes to the respective GB hosts who are the ones who do all the heavy lifting. I just bask in their reflected glory! 1
Enzo the Magnificent
With the exception of my Scale Resin NA39, so far everyone is building an Airfix kit, either in 1/48 or 1/72. I'm pleased to see a number of old tool Airfix kits in the mix. With some resin corrections and care, the old tool kit still scrubs up very well indeed.

Col.
There's a particular Buccaneer S.2B I've wanted to model since learing about its existance, XT287 'F' of XV squadron marked up as "Macroberts Reply", sadly I've not found decals specifically covering this particular aircraft in any scale but once the Airfix 72nd scale kit gets released in its RAF guise I'll try to represent it using the Modeldecal sheet depicting the Tornado. http://xvsqnassociation.co.uk/xv sqn history/xv sqn macroberts reply.html If, however, the legend and crest were available in 48th I'd be using one of my 48th scale kits for this GB. At least this makes for a good reason to treat myself to another Bucc kit Edited April 28, 2020 by Col. 2
