Hoping to stick my neck out for this GB - would you be interested in seeing a 1/32 resin version in the GB? The caveat is it might not make it to the finish line..!

I have a couple of other builds to finish first (should be done in about a week) but with time on my hands for the next month, this might be the perfect time to try something mad and new!

By all means yes Alan. Feel free to start a thread whenever you wish. Is that the Aerodynamix kit?

Thanks @Col. It's a new, very limited run kit by @Icelandic Fine Art. I want to do it proud!

With the exception of my Scale Resin NA39, so far everyone is building an Airfix kit, either in 1/48 or 1/72.

No longer so!

I have the CMR Operation Granby Buccaneer, can I join?  It looks  like it needs some cleaning up and the 2 fuselage halves don’t fit that well, but hey, I’ve done the Airfix 1/48 kit so how hard can it be?!  AA SAS Land Rover pushed to the side.....

I'm contemplating joining in with a 1/48 Airfix kit. I'm thinking about XW987 of the A&AEE as it appeared at Fairford in the early 90s - raspberry ripple with most of the fin in dark green and dark sea grey, and unpainted intakes. It also had small pylons under the wingtips with cameras mounted to photograph ordnance separation - so a couple of questions for the Buccaneer hive-mind - does anyone have a good close-up photo of the cameras? And does anyone have any info or photos of A&AEE Buccs carrying ordnance on test please?

cheers

Please do join us with this one Julian. It'd make for a great model and fantastic addition to the GB.

There's actually a video of this ac dropping 'something', which rotates around the wing trailing edge then goes up (yes up) between the wing and the tail before being left behind by the aircraft.

This is a great scheme and would look good in the gallery.

So long as it is at least partly based on a proposed variant rather than being a total 'flight of fantasy' then I'm happy to see a What-if' in the GB yes :)

What do you have in mind?

There was a proposed AEW  version which  Colin did the resin for.

I've just looked at the Big H website.   it seems that the KitsWorld 1/48 Buccaneer decal sheet is suddenly in their Top 10.   Is that something we've done?!?!?!

Some good news for Buccaneer freaks.  Aerocraft Models have released a resin set to convert the Airfix 1/72 kit to the S.1 version.

Probably a little too late for inclusion in this GB sadly.

Print Scale also have two Buccaneer decal sheets on the way.

https://www.hannants.co.uk/product/PSL72401?result-token=KrZFI

https://www.hannants.co.uk/product/PSL72402?result-token=KrZFI

Again probably a little late for this GB but there are some S1 schemes on those sheets if you can't lay your hands on the Model Art sheet.

The second sheet also has markings for the experimental scheme used by 800 NAS, where the white undersurfaces were overpainted with Dark Sea Grey.

The other experimental scheme was the overall "Squirrel grey" scheme trialled by 809 NAS which is available from Xtradecal.  This two schemes just increase the range of colour scheme options and will make a nice looking pair, especially if one of them displays the Air Graphics recce pack.

A quick question please.

I'm building a 1960's RN Bucc in overall EDSG.  The codes on the kit's decal sheet are white, but I'm seeing builds appearing in the GB where they are light blue.  Which is correct?  Hopefully both!

I'm thinking the pale blue is correct but hopefully someone can prove the white is right too for your example Cliff

Cliff,

Sadly I don't think white codes are correct for EDSG Buccs. Never say never and all that, but ALL the colour images I have on my hard drive or have seen in various books show pale blue underwing serials and side codes. There may have been an exception to the rule, but I've yet to see an image. This is particularly frustrating when Xtradecal seem to have cocked up so spectacularly with their recent sheets which have been printed with so many incorrect white options. This may lead some modellers without sufficient references to unerringly build inaccurate models.

Mark.

No chance you can use the decal as a pattern to cut masks Cliff?
