Nice one Procopius; I'm sure we'll have a very interesting GB...the numbers are 'swelling' at a slow but I'm sure, perfectly normal pace.

I think it's great to commemorate the 'smaller' conflicts so, please count me in for this one.

It'll give me the excuse to finally start that AFV Club Centurion and maybe some early Israeli stuff

hmm I'm thinking about an Israeli Meteor, something like a NF.13. Not sure who makes them or conversions. But a NF Meteor would fit nicely with the rest of my nightfighters.......does someone make a 1/48 version????

I was just in Paris and while visiting the Air and Space museum out in the suburbs I saw this, which looked very interesting. It's in French but has some great pics and colour profiles. Unfortunately my stupid American credit card (they don't have chip and pin, don't get me started) wouldn't work and I didn't have the cash to get it.

I did find their website though and they have the second part up which deals with the Aeronavale. Nearer the time I may have to get one or both!

Right...I've finally decided what I'd like to build. Drawing up the plans now and it's something I never ever thought I'd build...muahahah! You'll just have to wait and see, but I'll need plenty of photos of deck crew and the 'accelerator'/ catapult. In 1/48th scale this time, and seriously...I didn't know this type ever took part, but I do now. I'm definitely in and no going back. Now clock, dear clock...please don't speed up too much, or should I say 'extractum digit Nobby, when the time comes'.

I might even be able to have a go by 2015, I'll be rather put out if I can't! .... so put me down

and have quite a suez stash....

lets see, Seahawk, Wyvern, Hunter, Venom, Sea Venom, NF Meteor, AEW Skyraider, F84F, F4U-7, Ouragan, Mystere IV, Mig-15..... the Israeli's used Mustangs, Harvard's, Mosquito's, Piper Cub, Whirlwind helicopters [as did the FAA] ...oh I have those as well.....and others I'd not planned as Suez types [Vampire, Canberra]

IIRC the Aeronavale has some AEW Avengers?

This may be of interest to folks here, my copy not to hand

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Wings-Over-Suez-Authoritative-Operations/dp/1904943551

has a good amount of interesting photos[nearly all the above] , but fairly small size, and some other potential projects, REAF Halifax anyone? Worth getting if you want details on the operations and history.

cheers

T

Edited as a Skyhawk is not a Seahawk... though one would look good in Suez Stripes!

Troy, indeed the Aeronavale did have some during Suez, there were marking options for them on the DP Carpena sheet and in the Mach 2 kit.

I now have a AC 1/48 Meteor NF13 read for this one if it gets up, else it'll go the the STGB, though a Israeli Mozzie would be nice as well....or a Wyvern!

for those seeking some inspiration, have a look here, as there's lots to choose from.

Me! Me! Me! :bounce:

Wyvern in 1/72. F4U-7 in 1/48.

Edit: Egyptian Vampires, Meteors and Mig-15s... how much choice?!?!?

Not to forget (Egyptian) Spitfires (F.Mk. 22s), Furies... I think even Halifaxes were still operational as of 1956...

Thanks. And, half of Arab MiGs, Volume 1 - is dealing with the Suez Crisis too.

(That said, 'much more is to follow' - in 2016, of course.)
