  6. FYI, Creative Colors now do two KLM colours: KLM Airways Lazar Old Blue - Creative Colors CC-PA047 KLM Airways Vivid Cerulean - Creative Colors CC-PA046 I can't verify the accuracy as I haven't seen them. All the best, Vinny
  7. Hi guys, To throw another brand into the mix, Creative Colors produce BA blues. I can't, however, verify the colours because I don't have them. British Airways Blue - Creative Colors CC-PA045 British Airways Landor Blue - Creative Colors CC-PA044 These are "acrylic enamel paints (acrylics that can be diluted with a thinner but not with water)". I think that could mean they are lacquers?? πŸ€” All the best! Vinny
  8. Beautiful, absolutely beautiful! Top notch model that you can be very proud of. Thanks for posting.
  9. Awesome livery! You achieved a superb result with a very complex set of decals. I plan on making this aircraft some day so I hope I get results as good as yours. Thanks for sharing!

  11. Hi Tim, You're a star! Thank you so much. This is exactly what I needed to know and that's a great tip about the new Virgin scheme. Thanks a million! Cheers Vinny
  12. Hi chaps, I wonder if someone here could clear up some confusion I’m having regarding the Xtracolor Mica paints. I’ve searched around but haven’t found any definitive answers. Xtracolor produce two Mica topcoats; X368 Mica 1 and X369 Mica 2. In the description of X368 Mica 1 is β€œacrylic base”. Does this mean that it is an acrylic paint or does it mean it is formulated to go on top of an acrylic base? Is it safe to put over an enamel base? I’m presuming X369 Mica 2 is a standard enamel paint and can be thinned with enamel thinners but what about thinning X368 Mica 1? And finally, is there a difference in the final tone or pearlescent finish between Mica 1 and Mica 2? I note from Xtracolor instructions that putting a topcoat of Mica 1 over X367 Virgin Atlantic Grey gives the pearlescent finish for Virgin while putting Mica 2 over X367 gives the Northwest Airlines pearlescent finish. Does that indicate that there a difference? Sorry for all the questions but I’d really appreciate any insight on these Mica topcoats from your experience as I’m trying to figure out which one to use. Thanking you in advance. Cheers! Vinny

Really appreciate the great feedback and it's good to know I'm getting some things right @Kallisti: I actually referenced your build while I was doing mine. 21. Model: Moebius Models Iron Man Mk. VI (0922) Scale: 1:8 Hey guys! Finished this earlier in the year but only now getting around to posting it. I enjoyed the build over all but the seams were a killer!! I'm happy with the result after all the pain though Any questions just fire away! Thanks for looking! Vinny
  22. Thanks guys! I really am grateful for all the positive comments. It really means a lot as it's great to know my work is appreciated by the talented modelers on here whose work has been inspirational to me. Thanks Ray! I painted the fan blades first, used a silver paint pen for the blade edges, then the ring part that holds them in white. This section (blades and ring) was then carefully masked off before installing into the engine housing. The two sides of the engines were mated together which left a seam line running through the middle of the intake. The seam was sanded smooth (using sandpaper rolled to a small tube and attached to the end of a paintbrush). Mr Surfacer was then applied to get rid of any imperfections. I then glued on the front section (the intake lip) of the engine. Then I was happy with any cleanup that needed to be done, I went ahead and primed the intake with Alclad primer. Then I applied Alclad Dark Aluminum. I masked off the Dark Aluminum in preparation for Humbrol Polished Aluminum (27002) which I applied at the later stages of the build after the white paint job was finished. Thanks! I tend to always use setting solutions and for this build I used my favoured Mr Mark Setter and Mr Mark Softer. The decals went on well but are pretty thick especially the light blue areas. If there were any really painful sections then I might have used Daco's strong solution. I used Xtracolor X262 RAL7021 Schwartzgrun. Thanks again! Cheers! Vinny
  23. Thanks for all the positive comments fellas! Very much appreciated and very motivational too Cheers! Vinny
