Very sad indeed. Coincidently, I'd just been watching the remake of the Ipcress File and thoroughly enjoyed it, and bought Funeral in Berlin on the back of it. Goodbye Mickey Mouse and Bomber are both excellent reads

Not so much what I'm reading but a request for recommendations. My son (allegedly adult) would like something on "mental colonial stuff or wild civil wars...." He's recently polished off Spice by Roger Crowley and The Last Emperor of Mexico by Edward Shawcross to give an idea of whathe likes. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Spice-16th-Century-Contest-Shaped-Modern/dp/0300281129/ref=pd_sbs_d_sccl_1_2/521-0488532-1517418?pd_rd_w=YBp7d&content-id=amzn1.sym.a7f0b05b-798f-4d19-b8a1-2dada4200b51&pf_rd_p=a7f0b05b-798f-4d19-b8a1-2dada4200b51&pf_rd_r=8NP8P0WQY15D12386ZPK&pd_rd_wg=du5P8&pd_rd_r=f33dc527-9526-4420-9eb9-417f44c621c1&pd_rd_i=0300281129&psc=1 https://www.amazon.co.uk/Last-Emperor-Mexico-Disaster-World/dp/0571360580/ref=sr_1_1?crid=FP3A89UO2FD9&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.XoW40NrxJp7FBuGdcj2nRjxaULJO-oC3mM8XITKu7rnO1aMvg7KCh0DSd7U0Hu6UtBTpEWwXTneqtofTzw6xl7rPTWlv1lLt9avEVl_j4dL7YXWm_mJelZyCDPWloxlOisiXnxUg3lJxG7y1t0M872LO6UNX__A4se8BYlHu3PAKBJ2YLMrztK8ZK9qJmd3p9XgIzUEXm6cp02SdqHCYvs1cIAOStClw3zoObyOd4CE.K47rCzGQve3WdNWwExNslXw22-ATbzXLS4tB10q_MtU&dib_tag=se&keywords=emperor+maximilian+mexico&qid=1764628988&s=books&sprefix=emporer+maxillianmexico%2Cstripbooks%2C111&sr=1-1 Nothing too academic but a solid read. Any recommendations folk? Pete

And the latest boxing of Airfix's 1/48 P-40 has a Tomahawk from 1686 Fighter Affiliation Flight. That's three GB's in one - Bomber Command, P-40 and Not Your Usual Colour Scheme (at a pinch). Actually, asking for a friend, is such group build drift permisable or discouraged?

To the best of my knowledge, Beauforts were Coastal Command and Royal Navy only. Pete

Recommendations for a smallish 1/700 ship
Potato Pete replied to Potato Pete's topic in General Maritime modelling chat
I think my firstship ever was Airfix's HMS Suffolk when I was a nipper. I do remember some of their kits being pretty crude, but some of their later ones - HMS Amazon, Prinz Eugen and Moskva - being quite nice. Can't speak for accuracy however. Moskva may well have been the last ship I built and that was when it was newish.......
