This sums it up to me completely (even down to leaving the car park lol) and have always thought this even when young. Probably why I enjoyed Flying Legends more than any other airshow as the display was much more tight and fast paced because of the aircraft used even if they weren't training/aerobatic aircraft. I'm guessing in time training aircraft will be in less demand as simulators will become so realistic there won't be the need for so much actual flying which leads me onto the point where there was a time when the RAF was big enough to have several squadron based display teams let alone one main one but over time as airfields and aircraft (airshows too) have reduced in number then it's only natural that to me "luxuries" like display teams should follow.

Alex said they were paused/cancelled and he said We'll have to wait and see if they change this........

I looked at converting the large clear plastic boxes you can get for storage etc and after costing it all out with the box, filter, motor, ducting, wiring and fan etc it wasn't that much cheaper than the cheapest actual booth I could buy so I decided to just buy one, not the biggest but fine for what I need

Airfix Bristol Superfreighter - British United
Toe replied to woody37's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Done your research there as there are points which I never done when building mine. Amazing paintjob and the detail and weathering is show winning imho... For me the kit itself was a joy to build, infact haven't enjoyed a kit so much in many years, not so good on the painting side as misinterpreted the painting guide and the transfers reacted with the Mr Hobby Aqueous varnish I used for some reason, although the kit was quite old.... -
Does look good doesn't it. The Flair is a rebadged Suzuki Spacia which is much better to drive than you'd think so this Crossover could well be another Suzuki 🖕

Still in my backorder list as have some others patiently waiting to join it... It's grim looking thing for sure but have a thing for anything that was at Farnborough in the 50's to the 70's at the minute so how can I refuse, for what it is that's a damn good price too

Yes, infact Opera started out on Windows 95 all those years ago and is one of the oldest around but is a shadow of its former self. I started using it many years ago and had many features that other browsers copied but is now basically owned by a Chinese company and uses Googles' Chromium as a base but I'm so used to it I keep with it

The Airfix kit is sheer nostalgia for me but then so is this in the sense I was at Mildenhall for that show but I'm afraid I can't remember much about it apart from the usual smell of BBQ's being cooked on cut in half oil drums, the smell of burnt kerosene and from someone young the sheer brashness of American servicemen even if we had a couple from Bentwaters as neighbours and a cousin marrying one as well!! Sure I've still got the calendar from that year too, kept all the ones I went to

The most I've ever spent at a model show... Been saving myself to get some bits from the show to show a bit of support to traders so they'll come back and of course cuts the postage out for things like paint and glue The venue is almost ideal, a sports dome that is welcoming and different, or is that the people within?! Was way busier than I expected. It was the first time ever - here and at the bowling club - that I wasn't working and could get there earlier but I don't think that was it. There was some that wasn't there last year so a big thanks to all at Ipswich to get this thing organised and set up, never done it myself but can quite believe it takes some effort 🖕 There was a bit of a bloody hell it's busy moment when the car park was full with some cars on the grass even but it was shared with Saturday football? Last year it was in June so I guess the season had finished. But no big deal, I was lucky as a car was going and I was driving a titchy little 80's car at the time so could nip around sharpish but even if not Lindbergh Road and the roads around there was plenty of space, hell, it isn't even that far to walk but how would I get all my stuff home?!! 😂

Hornby Group (airfix's owners) half-yearly results
Toe replied to Phil Gollin's topic in Current News
We don't know if Scalextric is profitable, we don't know if any of them are but maybe they had an offer which they took? In an ideal world where Scalextric were king of the hill then maybe it would be worth more? At the end of the day we're all speculating, from what I've read the new owners aren't old hands at this sort of thing so might be a good thing in the end -
Ahoy Welcome in.... Looking forward to the show up Lindbergh Road especially if it's anything like it was last Summer, well worth it. Guessing they'll be having a similar but smaller one with the Ipswich Transport Museums festival June time like they have in the past. Clubs have really come on in recent years, when I first joined the IPMS there was no Ipswich or Bentwaters and nearest was Mildenhall and Essex way. Still haven't been going as until recently work has been at all the wrong times!

Source: https://uk.airfix.com/flowers Despite the grim jokes 🤔😀 its' an inspired and different direction, the diversity at places like Telford alone shows that, less machines of war and more of the world around us, it's how society is and how long ago a major war occurred. You can easily argue for minimum outlay they are widening their market, think of all those gift shops at country estates/nursery's etc not to mention tapping into the female side of our race. I've seen the Lego versions of for example Bonsai trees and know way more people who are into Lego than kits and I find I'm almost defending kits as they see kits much more simpler than Lego partly due to the cost and parts count, though I do hit back with things like Borders' Lancaster so if there's anything that get a piece of that market can't be bad, I mean, to me there is no competition between Lego and model kits, Lego are by their nature no where near as accurate, they also aren't a blank canvas like kits regarding decorating and the cost, well, Lego is trendy so they can charge what they like 🤔

Went to last years show, like a miniature Telford!! Very impressed with the venue (sports dome?) and the variety; clubs, traders and competition. Had a R/C stuff outside if I remember right but that was June, bit different in February!! Having said that I think it's much better to have it in winter, I'm very much a winter modeller as I try to fix up crappy old rusty cars during the nice weather so to have a show when I'm at my peak in modelling just means I'll spend more!!!

Great stuff, Austrian IPMS are certainly a busy bunch! Here's a link to the page, it's the middle pic with the blue borders which shows the Skyvan https://www.ipms.at/web/scaleshop
