Jon Kunac-Tabinor Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 Hi gang - well here she is. The build thread is here: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.p...&hl=seafire Kit decals used, with light weathering using Abteilung 502 faded grey oil as a panel wash, and a bit of pencil. I understand these Korean service aircraft got well used, but at the same time wanted to replect the fact that naval aircraft are pretty tough anyway! Falcon vac canopy replaces the kit one, though for the internal armoured windscreen glass I cut down the kit standard windscreen. Under-nose carb intake reduced in depth and wing folds scratched. details added from sprue, wire etc. Anyway - I enjoyed this model - its a great kit, and will be worth watching out for again when Airfix re-release it this year. All comments welcome comme d'habitude. cheers Jonners 1
c.smith10 Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 good job as usual jonners! cant wait for the re-issue to come out!!
godders Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 Very nice, very inspiring. A cleanly done model. Lovely.
AnonymousFO98 Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 Would love to see a whole room full with wings up like that Lasers + lights + DJ Big fish/little fish/cardboard box! Grand job Jonners looks super! Might be tempted next year for a re issue if is not too many pennies!
JosephLalor Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 Hi Jon, That's a lovely model of my favourite Seafire mark. Do I detect an Iain M. Banks fan? Joseph
Marv Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 Outstanding!!! Your Seafire is beautiful. The construction is great, and the paint even better. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Dave Gibson Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 I've been on the lookout for this on RFI and I'm not disappointed. You've captured it very well. Excellent build. Dave.
Vulcanicity Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 As everyone else has said, this came out awfully well. Bravo!
Doug Rogers Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 Nice work Jonners, as usual. You're brave standing it on the wing tips!
Ingo Degenhardt Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 About the decals: Obviously this is VP 461 (underwings), but the fuselage side serial only seems to read VP46... is there anything special about this aircraft or do I need new glasses to see the "1" on the fuselage? TIA Ingo
davidelvy Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 Very nice indeed. I think you have captured the look very well. It is not heavily weathered, but does look used. I am aiming for a similar look with muine, so fingers crossed.
J.D. Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 Lovely work Jonners. Neat, sweet build. Really like the extra bits in the wing folds too.

TIA Ingo Hi Ingo - I see what you mean - the 1 on the fuselage serials is obscured by the white of the stripe and on the other side is just nestling into the black of a strip. cheers Jon

Ingo

Tim T Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 Jonners, that is a cracker. Something to aspire to when I buy the re-release!
