John Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 from Airfix.com, and presumably from your usual supplier in the very near future: http://www.airfix.com/airfix-products/new-...&sortorder= It'll be interesting to see how this one's received. John
FalkeEins Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 .. well, its a little more than I was expecting to have to pay, although if the decals work it'll probably be worth it... Just picked up the really cute Hobbyboss kit for a fiver....
max stafford Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 Hopefully, the Mk4 won't be far away too then. Dave.
Julien Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 (edited) £7.99 is not bad for a new tool. Less than the Academy kit and nearly half the price of the fujimi kit. I will get one to see what is like, if near the fujimi kit in quality etc then I will get a few! We now await the Canadair Sabre! Julien Edited November 9, 2010 by Julien
John Posted November 9, 2010 Author Posted November 9, 2010 It looks like quite a nice little kit. The ammo bay doors can be left open, the tyres are bulged and the canopy slides! John
GreenDragon Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 Might get one but I don't really need it coz I recently got a mint sealed Hobbycraft for £3.69 and a near mint/still sealed in bags Fujimi for £5.89 (both including P+P!) so £7.99 seems a bit steep at the moment! Paul Harrison
Julien Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 a near mint/still sealed in bags Fujimi for £5.89 (both including P+P!) Paul Harrison Pray tell where from? Julien
Robert Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Another model to add to the list for SMW. Robert
tangerine_sedge Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 It looks pretty detailed to me. Looking at the downloadable instructions from the Airfix website, it looks like it even comes with weights for the nose (or is that just an indication of how much weight to insert in nose?) I thought the Mig was a pretty nice kit (innacuracies aside, it went together really well), so I'm definitely going to buy one of these. Actually with the new Mig, it might make a nice new dogfight double kit
Jennings Heilig Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 Hopefully, the Mk4 won't be far away too then. Unless they're doing the narrow chord slatted wing, then what's in box *is* a Mk.4 with the hard wing. There is no other external difference. Just stick some RAF stickers on it and (as they say in America) "wallah" - a Mk.4. J

It's an indication to add nose weight, you have to provide your own, I'd add at least double what is recommended to be on the safe side

GreenDragon Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 Pray tell where from?Julien It was Evilbay Julien, I put on low bids for each one and completely forgot I'd done it then a few days later got the email that I'd won both! Surprised the hell outa me! Paul Harrison

I think what Max is referring to is the Mk.4 release (RAF/Yugoslav) which, according to the Airfix Facebook page, will be out in the next few months.
pte1643 Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 Is this an older re-released kit? The Dragon decal looks familiar to one they used to make (may have made) eons ago.
thx6667 Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 Is this an older re-released kit? The Dragon decal looks familiar to one they used to make (may have made) eons ago. All new kit, I think you may be thinking of the P-80 markings.
AnonymousFO98 Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 The Huff is an optionn with the Fujimi kit. Maybe that is where you remember it from Pete?
Baggers Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 The left hand side with the dragon looks wrong, should have red spines and the right hand side is missing some markings too. See these links for a photos http://gajets.net/gallery/displayimage.php...um=43&pos=0 http://gajets.net/gallery/displayimage.php...um=43&pos=1 http://gajets.net/gallery/displayimage.php...um=43&pos=2 Shame it is a "pretty" scheme otherwise.
Robert Posted November 14, 2010 Posted November 14, 2010 Just to confirm I bought the kit at SMW and the colours on the dragon's spine is incorrect and a few other differences and the markings on the other side are not provided. Mine is going to end up in RAF markings. Where is my Modeldecal sheet. Robert
hacker Posted November 14, 2010 Posted November 14, 2010 l remember having the Hobbycraft Canada Sabre once and it was a really decent kit for the price. Is there any chance we can see sprue shots of this new Airfix kit?
AnonymousFO98 Posted November 14, 2010 Posted November 14, 2010 (edited) The panel lines are looking much better than some other offerings earlier this year. Roll on the RAF version. Detail in the airbrake bay is a bit skimpy, was better in the Heller kit. What are the cockpit and wheel wells like please? Edited November 14, 2010 by walrus
Robert Posted November 14, 2010 Posted November 14, 2010 The cockpit has decals and the wells are a bit sparse. I am happy with them although no doubt resin items will be forthcoming. Robert
AnonymousFO98 Posted November 14, 2010 Posted November 14, 2010 Thanks Robert Pity but no big deal. Interesting how the wings have been done, looks like Airfix have allowed for the wing join to cater for the wheel wells?
John Posted November 14, 2010 Author Posted November 14, 2010 Looks like it will be easy for Airfix to produce a slatted wing version at a later date. John
