silverburn Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 (edited) This was going so well too, until I dropped it on the kitchen floor! Smashed plastic everywhere... Needless to say I lost all motivation to complete this one after that - I literally did the minimum I could, so I could move on. For what it's worth, here's the original build thread. Standard OOB build, nothing fancy. Just wanted a 1:72 to complete the "set". So here's the pics.... And with his big brother... ...and the rest of the family... Edited January 23, 2010 by silverburn
silverburn Posted January 23, 2010 Author Posted January 23, 2010 Damage was as follows... Davec_24 Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 Nice collection! You'd never guess it had had such an incident though, you've patched her up nicely. What colours did you use for the main scheme? I've a got a 1/48 Revell one in the stash and am a bit unsure as to the colour.
Yellow07 Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 Despite the breakage its a great build And not a sign of it either ^^
Spad Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 good...no, great save and nice "set" Congrats for hanging-in there! cheers Rick
Plastic Bonsai Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 The little wing things are Air Data Transducer probes; they are the prime source of air data and air flow angles on the airframe. Silverburn A fine collection and a testiment to your industry and all power to you. The three larger models look almost identical - apart from the size! There's a challenge for some one to make the same model in two scales and see if we can tell the difference from separate photographs. I hope Revell re-do their 1/144th offering. I think there's a 1/100th version as well of the snap togther type -that might be quick addition?
Spitfire31 Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 I'm a bit worried about the pilot. Did he have time to eject before impact or was he carried out of the wreckage? Wreckage, btw. Don't see any trace of it. Attractive model! Best, Joachim
AjD Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 Damage? Where? Great Typhoons there and the level of realism is very impressive. Good to see them all together in four scales! Andy
woody37 Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 Love that last piccie of them all together, you repaired it well, looks lovely.
Daniel Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 They look great together, I'd quite like the 1/72 example, can you tell me is yous totally out of the box, did all the weapons come with it? Dan
silverburn Posted January 24, 2010 Author Posted January 24, 2010 (edited) Thanks for all the constructive comments guys! @ Daniel: Yes, these stores all came with it, plus the German version of the shadow thingy. You will be missing the middle Pylon though, compared to the 1:48 and 1:32. And they all miss the inner Pylon! @ Spitfire: I think he's still MIA...and he be better that way - if he comes home he's getting court-martialed for that landing! @ Plastic bonzai: Ironically I'd consider re-doing the 1:48; it's the least satisfactory one (from a modelling perspective), and it's in the wrong squadron too! And yes, the 1:144 really needs re-done. It looks nothing like a eurofighter, and the stores alignments are all wrong (they all "toe-in") Edited January 24, 2010 by silverburn
Julien Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 Nice, does the middle one have pink? missiles? Julien
silverburn Posted January 25, 2010 Author Posted January 25, 2010 Nice, does the middle one have pink? missiles? Julien Lol - unfortunately...yes. A poor choice in paint by me! Was attempting a blue, as hanging up in the aviation museum, but it went badly wrong...
Irishgreek Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 The 'pink' will for sure be the favourite of the little girls around the neighbourhood. I know my girls thought it the 'prettiest'
Daniel Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 Thanks for all the constructive comments guys! @ Daniel: Yes, these stores all came with it, plus the German version of the shadow thingy. You will be missing the middle Pylon though, compared to the 1:48 and 1:32. And they all miss the inner Pylon! Mmmm, definetly need to get one then. Thanks, Dan
