SimonL
My first completion of the year, the Asuka Sherman III with Direct Vision and early VVSS suspension completed as “Churchill”, 3 County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters) 4th Armoured Brigade in Sicily, July 1943. There are a couple of good photos showing this tank arriving in Sicily from the IWM website. https://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/205204224 https://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/205204225 Brush painted with Vallejo Air acrylics and weathered with a combination of Vallejo Model Washes. Stowage was a mixture of leftovers from a previous Sherman build, an Asuka accessories set and what I had in the spares box and some scratch made tarpaulins (my first go at that!). Build thread can be found here: Thanks for looking, and hope you are all having a great New Year. And here it is with the other two 1:35 Shermans in my collection, built in 2022. A Mk 1 Hybrid (built from the Asuka Composite “China Clipper boxing) and a Firefly Vc (the Rye Field Models kit).

Armorrich
Great looking Sherman in a great looking lineup. Would be interested in your opinion concerning the kit itself. I've heard of Asuka but never worked one. Thanks. Cheers...Rich

Kind regards, Stix Thanks Stix, really pleased with how the stowage came out - although it did take almost as much time as the rest of the kit! 12 hours ago, Armorrich said: Great looking Sherman in a great looking lineup. I’m no Sherman expert, but my understanding is that they are reasonably accurate. From a build point of view they are (to me) very enjoyable. A bit more complex than Tamiya but not the insane number of parts you get with a Bronco kit. Some folk don’t like the vinyl tracks, but I don’t have any problems with them. I also ignore the “workable” suspension and fix it in place. The two kits I have came with plastic spacers, as well as the infamous “spongy” material, to do this. They can have a bit of photoetch, although typically not that complicated (and this kit didn’t). Perhaps the biggest challenge is availability. Where I am (Perth, Australia) you can get them direct from Asuka without breaking the bank with post and packaging. 12 hours ago, The_Lancaster said: Nice build!
