madcat911 Posted March 13, 2021 Posted March 13, 2021 Hi all, here's my go at the RFM 1/35 Panzer III Ausf J. It will be an OOB build. I'll be building the kit which does not come with the interior to simplify things. So far I have gotten the suspension sorted and assembled the wheels. Mark 8
Jasper dog Posted March 13, 2021 Posted March 13, 2021 Good luck, its a great kit and goes together well. Atb Darryl 2
PlaStix Posted March 13, 2021 Posted March 13, 2021 Hi Mark and welcome to the GB with what looks to be a rather impressive kit!! Very nice! Great to see you are underway as well. I'm looking forward to following your project. Kind regards, Stix
madcat911 Posted March 14, 2021 Author Posted March 14, 2021 Thanks everyone! Work continued over the weekend. Got the hull more or less done. Mark 10
PlaStix Posted March 16, 2021 Posted March 16, 2021 That really is looking excellent Mark. Very nicely done. Kind regards, Stix
madcat911 Posted March 20, 2021 Author Posted March 20, 2021 Weekend is here so more work done on this build. Assembled the turret and cupola. And altogether now! Mark 11
WarhammerAdjacent Posted March 21, 2021 Posted March 21, 2021 Lovely build so far. That bag on the gun is a really nice detail, you can't really go wrong with RFM can you?
vytautas Posted March 21, 2021 Posted March 21, 2021 Looks good! Great detail, really liked the periscopes Vytautas
PlaStix Posted March 21, 2021 Posted March 21, 2021 Wow! You are making excellent progress on this very nicely detailed kit. The vision blocks for the cupola are little works of art. Are you going to leave the hatches on the cupola open? Seems a shame to lose all that detail. Kind regards, Stix
madcat911 Posted March 26, 2021 Author Posted March 26, 2021 Thanks for the compliments everyone. The kit has been great to build so far. I don't plan to glue the hatch shut so that cupola detail can still be seen after completion. I finally completed the tracks and gave the parts a coat of Mr Mahogany Surfacer. Should be a nice base to spray dark yellow on. 3
madcat911 Posted March 28, 2021 Author Posted March 28, 2021 To the paint barn then. Painted with Mr Color dark yellow lightened with a touch of sail colour. Mark 10
Jasper dog Posted March 28, 2021 Posted March 28, 2021 Nice work! The dark yellow over the mahogany base look really good. Atb
PlaStix Posted March 28, 2021 Posted March 28, 2021 Your paintwork is looking excellent! Very nicely done! Kind regards, Stix
bigfoot Posted March 29, 2021 Posted March 29, 2021 Nice colour you’ve got going on there. What did you think of the kit overall? I’ve just seen a review of this kit with the interior and have to say I’m tempted despite not normally being a fan of interior kits. Be interested to know what someone who’s built the basic kit thinks of it.
madcat911 Posted March 30, 2021 Author Posted March 30, 2021 Thanks guys! 17 hours ago, bigfoot said: Nice colour you’ve got going on there. What did you think of the kit overall? But I guess there’s always aftermarket sets. Mark 1
madcat911 Posted March 31, 2021 Author Posted March 31, 2021 Pin wash applied. I also replaced the kit’s radio antenna with guitar string. Mark 8
PlaStix Posted April 1, 2021 Posted April 1, 2021 WOW!! That really is looking awesome! Really sharp detailing! This is going to be a real stunner!! Very well done! Kind regards, Stix
madcat911 Posted April 2, 2021 Author Posted April 2, 2021 Thanks for the encouraging words everyone! I’ve commenced chipping the model. Mark 3
WarhammerAdjacent Posted April 2, 2021 Posted April 2, 2021 Beautiful work on the chipping, the brown colour works really well as a second time.
