Keith I was never really a big Loeb fan , but to come back straight from Dakar Rally , drive a car he’s not really familiar with and lead one of the most technical rallies is really quite impressive . Did you see the huge crash that occurred to one of his teammates ? Gary .

I did, and the cage (or 'safety cell' as they apparently are now!) held up really well. I'm actually quite liking the new car specs (even if they are still fugly!) - I mean 500 bhp (even if only for short periods) is group B power...!! Windy37
Never really been a Seb Loeb fan but winning the Monte Carlo rally with little testing in a new car with a new co driver against talented younger drivers , well full respect . Oh and he's 48 years old BTW . Gary.
Sabrejet
Sebastien Loeb must surely rate as a modern-day Stirling Moss; one of the greatest of his era.

galaxyg
I've been holding off catching up on this thread until I'd seen the ITVplayer 45 minute highlights show to see who won. Indeed an impressive performance from Loeb, and the Puma looks a lot better than it's road-going equivalent. It flashed by quickly but I'm sure one of the Pumas didn't have Red Bull's propaganda up the side, and looked better for it. McG
BMW M4 GT4 shipped to Japan for use in their touring cars championship this year. All Carbon Fibre body panels. Head on shot makes it look like the Batmobile or similar.
Windy37
I spent an enjoyable day at the Riponian Stages Rally yesterday . Running out of Thirsk in North Yorkshire , taking in some classic forest stages . Apart from the massed ranks of well prepared and driven Mk2 Ford Escorts there was a good variety of classic and modern rally cars competing . Here are a few photos , taken at the start before the cars got dirty ! Hope there’s something for everyone here . The accessibility is one of the reasons I love this sport ; this was 8am yesterday morning ! Gary .

(in amongst the Escorts I had a rally prepped Avenger Tiger for a short while, I actually liked it a little bit more than the Escorts!) Nice pics Gary, thanks for sharing! Windy37
The Avenger has a BRM engine - quite a rare thing apparently . It makes a great noise ! Gary .
Spiny
I also see a TR7/8 lurking there in the background - that'll do for me The name Philliskirk is another name I remember seeing quite a bit in the local papers back when I was young, but I was sure that was a Tony. Father to this one? Or just a failing memory on my part?

Father to this one? Or just a failing memory on my part? This was driven by Warren Philliskirk , from just outside York. He also sometimes uses his 6R4 .... The silver and white Fiestas are driven by Charlie Payne and his son , who own Paynes dairies from Ripon . Gary .
Spiny
Beginning to think it may be my memory playing tricks when it comes to his first name - assuming it was Warren rallying in the 1980s it is likely the same one as local press back home was the Yorkshire Evening Press and Malton Gazette & Herald so all fits into place.
Windy37
Think Warren has been rallying years so probably is the same one . Gary .

keefr22
Got ten minutes to kill? Not only some of the best looking race cars ever, but the sound is awesome - stick your headphones on and turn it up to 11...!! This is why I'll never, ever have any interest in electric motorsport!! Give it a few years, batteryheads will be at an all-electric motorsports event like "wow. listen to the whine on that. It sounds like a Ford Anglia going quickly in reverse". As if it's some sort of good thing.

Windy37
I visited the East Riding Stages Rally today , a rarity in that it ran on closed public roads around the north of Hull . I could only see the start as other family matters clashed …. Here’s a few choice pictures as I stood freezing as the cars left the start . It’s strange to see rally cars set up for tarmac as I’m more used to gravel rallies . Thanks for looking Gary .
