Spookytooth
Thanks @giemme, @phildagreek. @keefr22 Tamiya X 22 but will use Vallejo Gloss for the washes. @The Spadgent, just your cheapo "The Works" oils, more than likely Black. OK naff weather meant find something else to do, so decal time. Starting with the radar. Battery and engine bit. And bottle? Needs a touch up. Not a lot else done. All comments welcome. Serkan Sen
Good progress so far Simon. Regarding to Tamiya paints, how do you get satin white coat? As far as I see Tamiya has X-2 gloss and XF-2 matt white. Would it be enough to apply semigloss clear coat to get satin white? For black there is satin black XF-18 besides X-1 gloss and XF-1 Matt blacks. Serkan

I lay XF 2 down first, then add some X 2 for the next coat etc until I get the finish I hope for. Simon. 2

Spookytooth
Thanks @giemme, @keefr22, @The Spadgent, @shortCummins . @bbudde and @Serkan Sen. Onwards they say, a fine day so get some spraying done. Drop tanks, half done. Next main U/C doors. And finally (for now) the AIM 120 C`s. They look a lot better second time around. They still have a lot to do though. Coffee and fag break. All comments welcome. Simon.

I will wait until the big H has it stock. My local shop does not stock Alcad 2 sadly, but will order it for me. Question though, is it ready thinned or needs thinning, if so what? And what pressure to spray it at? TIA. Simon.

I've never thinned it, not for airbrushing nor brush painting nor dipping - always used pure. I normally spray it at around 1 bar. Spookytooth
Right, you can now see what I mean about the varnish. Nose U/C bay. Not too bad. Cockpit vents. OK. Side walls. Not good. And finally the radar. Not sure about the right hand side pic but the left side probably needs another coat of paint on the other side. The Blu Tac will scrape off. So, until tomorrow I am leaving her alone. All comments welcome. Simon. 1

The Spadgent
Yes, I though it had melted the plastic too. Phew. 😇 Does no body use Tamiya cans? I seem to be alone in my love of the TS 13 , 79 and 80. Nice progress regardless. John.

The wet coat had flooded the details but once dry had sharpened up. I use to spray it with a 0.3mm but could never get that solid wet coat. Was always a bit rough in places. Plus I used to flash it off with a hair drier due to worrying about catching dust in the finish so was always satin at best. However now as said a wet coat with a 0.5mm and let it air dry under cover and its amazing. Tony 4

Thanks @Tony Oliver, I am using a 0.3 at the moments but have a 0.4 for the H&S though. OK, new tools arrived today so I was able to tackle this problem, the intake seam. That`s after a rub and fill and rub and spray. This is how it looks like now. Better, but a little more work needed. And from the rear. Not so bad. Right coffee time. All comments welcome. Fulcrum Guy
Wow, don't check in for a bit and all I missed! Lawn Dart is coming along nicely. Looks like I'll need to pick up a jar of Alclad varnish as well for the bug!
phildagreek
Looks good! On your varnish quest, I was pointed some time ago by people on here to Winsor & Newton acrylic gloss & Matt, it’s great stuff and all I ever use now.

Spookytooth
Thanks @giemme, @Tony Oliver, @bbudde, @phildagreek, and @Fulcrum Guy. I have a look at the available Gloss Varnishes and may go for the Winsor and Newton Gloss, but a question, do you thin it, and with what and ratio to. Anyhow, , I have only been able to put a few decals on the pylons today. Caution, these decals are very thin as I found out myself, there is the end of one missing in action. Anyhow, you all have a good afternoon. All comments welcome. Simon.
Spookytooth
Hi folks, sorry been away but weather/life got in the way. Anyhow, to start with the nose cone, came in it`s own little bag, wonderfully slide moulded with fine panel lines. Trim the lugs off and clean, plus drill a 1.00 mm hole in the tip. Next up, the under fins. a couple of ejector pin marks to fill. Done. Wing tanks next, a visual of them showed the need of some TLC. So I drilled a 0.8 mm hole in the mounting beam ready for a bit of rod to act as a painting holder. Still need to re-scribe some parts and polish other areas. Also added so bits to the underside of the fuselage. Rear first. Front next. I have got a lot of catching up to do, hopefully I will get more done soon. All comments welcome.
