Anyhow I've got all 3 of my 109s up in the RFI section now so it'll be a while before I'm starting another RFI.

  2. Time to set up the camera and lights.

Well the builds are a form of comedy!

And this place is awash with people who could do the job of the two geezers in the box! Waccawaccawacca!

  3. At last, finally finished something1 In fact I've finished 2x 1/48 Bf109s in the last 24 hours with another one only a few hours away from completion.

      ..every cloud ..and all that

      Duncan B

I've still a lot of KUTA candidates to finish before I can start something new though :(

Still, mustn't grumble, lots of spare time for modelling at the moment.

    3. Duncan B

      Duncan B

3rd one finished today. Now I've a long overdue tidy up to do.

  4. Sometimes i just read the Post titles and I think 'Oh oh, here we go again!'

Can't beat a 'colour'ful debate to kick the hornets nest.

  5. I'm at the 'Almost finished but not quite but could still mess it all up' stage. What can possibly go wrong?

Murphy has a phenomenal imagination; wait and see.

    2. Duncan B

      Duncan B

Murphy has been working hand in hand with me all through these builds!

  6. 2 days without breaking something or pulling decals off, I'm on a roll now.

Most worrying is how did the stuff get into the cockpit in the first place? They were clean when I masked them up!

    3. Col.

      Col.

Wouldn't have got in via the wheel bays or radiator/oil cooler intakes? Guess why I'm thinking of them :-/

    4. Duncan B

      Duncan B

I'm thinking along those lines, maybe the gun ports or exhaust cut outs. I've never had this problem in 1/72, I guess the holes are too small.

  7. Couldn't get to Telford so went to his not so LMS and bought a Revell Halibag to compensate

.. it left a huge space on their small shelf of models for sale..

I wandered in mid-afternoon. Pity you didn't give me a shout.

As for those Fw190 - I was surprised at how small an aircraft they were so perhaps the 32nd scale kit is a good option for when your eyesight starts to fail.

      Duncan B

I was in about 1-30 to 2pm. had lunch in the Bistro just up the road.

I've got a couple of 1/32 Bf109s and a 262 in the stash so once the eyes go I'll tackle them.

  8. has spent the last 24 hours recalling 2 of his 3 !/48 Bf109s and now has very sore eyes

      Fog stopped play!

    3. Col.

      Col.

Pity you didn't make it Duncan but can understand why - it was thick fog in places as I drove in last night so sure it was fully worse down the coast than inland.

    4. Duncan B

      Duncan B

I got a few miles but it was a real pea soup job so decided discretion was required and turned back, see you for the December meeting hopefully.

  9. Argh, now the Montex mask is pulling the paint off!

      Jamie @ Sovereign Hobbies

Is this one one of your 109s?

    2. Duncan B

      Duncan B

Yep, must've been some grease on the plastic as the primer let go again.

  10. Argh, just removed some masking tape complete with 3 layers of paint and primer from right under the cockpit, nasty!

1/48 .... well take a guess, what's your most non favourite WW2 aircraft?

  11. Officially Redundant as of today. "Celeberated" by getting the airbrush out and spraying some RLM75, lovely.

Been there, mate. Sorry to hear you're there now. Hope something crops up ... and yeah, take the time to enjoy your models. :D

    4. Duncan B

      Duncan B

Number one on the list of things to do is build some models. Lucky I spent all that money collecting a huge stash over the last few years.

@ FalkeEins: I'd have to speed my production up somewhat to be able to even cover costs :)

      Cheers again chaps.

Back at ya Bro! I live with two Strictly obsessed females who insist on watching bothe shows on Sat and Sun as well as the half hour one Mon to Fri. I'd rather be subjected to white noise and a KGB interrogation....

    4. Duncan B

      Duncan B

So that's your excuse for recognising the badly sung theme tune on Tuesday night is it Mark? The White noise treatment would appear to be working.

  13. It' the Aberdeen Modeller's Society show today at the Gordon Highlander Museum in Aberdeen if anyone is in the area.

Damn, I wish I had paid attention earlier, I would liked to have gone... hope you have a good one and keep a firm grip on your camera...

  14. Have been surviving on 3 hours sleep a day for the last 3 weeks. Roll on crew change day!

  15. Will be delving back into the unfinished pile for my next victim. Lots to choose from unfortunately!

  16. Another completion, the tiny Brengun 1/72 Bachem Natter

    1. Albeback52

      Albeback52

Nice little kits these. Currently planning one each of the "what if" versions.

    2. Duncan B

      Duncan B

The only problem I had was with the fir of the canopy. I used a tiny bit of Mr Surfacer on the joint between the elevators and the fin too but that was it.

    3. Duncan B

      Duncan B

      "fit" not "fir" !

  17. Had to strip a Phantom back to bare plastic, unfortunately I've striped the inside of the cockpit too :(

  18. yahoo, managed to finish the Eduard Bf110 G4 last night and the radar aerials haven't fallen off yet!

    1. MikeW

      MikeW

      Patience! Give them time.

    2. Darby

      Darby

      Was just thinking that myself.

    3. Duncan B

      Duncan B

Thanks for the thoughts but they fell off so many times during the build that they have been drilled and pinned now.

  19. Rescribing an old Italaerei Do217, gee whiz but the plastic is horrible. It is actually de laminating and flaking off in layers!

    4. Duncan B

      Duncan B

It's just going to be a fun build anyway, no expectations of it being a showcase build.

  20. Back to work again :(

      MikeW

I too am so over this working thing. If only I were not so fixated on food and shelter.

  21. Decaling disaster narrowly averted, jeez those Eduard decals are thin and like to roll up on themselves.

    1. Procopius

      Procopius

Don't they? I've experienced a few decalsasters in my time with them.

  22. Humbrol Clear, crazy paving for scale modellers

  23. Curse AZ Model's plastic, Mr Color doesn't even want to stick to it!

    1. dfqweofekwpeweiop4

      dfqweofekwpeweiop4

Vallejo works Ok on AZ plastic!

    2. Nomore Shelfspace

      Nomore Shelfspace

Is Mister Color acrylic? If so I always use a "primer" of very thin enamel, whatever the plastic.

    3. Duncan B

      Duncan B

I'm nearing the end of the builds and masking off markings and stuff and the tape is pulling off paint and primer and that is after I've taken a lot of the stickiness off the tape.

  24. Oh Oh, The Company network police have blocked Photobucket

    1. Duncan B

      Duncan B

Oh, that's a surprise. The very nice man in IT has reinstated access and apologised for the inconvenience. (he does know I'm surfing BM etc while at work doesn't he?)

    2. CedB

      CedB

That IS a surprise... I assumed they wanted all the bandwidth for their geek blogs.
