  1. I seem to remember, from somewhere waaaaaay back in my mispent youth, that the interior bays of a lot of USN aircraft of that vintage were somewhat white or very light grey, with various bits and bobs in different colours (the function of each piece was indicated by it's colour) with red edging to larger and thicker panels like airbrakes. Could be totally wrong though.
  2. My 6 year old daughter loves pink Spitfires too, and of course she rifles my stash for ones for 'her' (read me) to build. Sigh, also her yellow and blue T-6G, her red Me 163 (with powder blue towing tractor, and her.......Anyway, I'll be watching with interest as I have plans for my Tiffies (old mould Airfix and Heller) and Stringbag (Revell) and am always inspired by the builds on BM! "One scale to rule them all!"
  3. Crashed on a reef in the Pacific maybe. Leaning drunkenly to one side with bits of seaweed hanging of it.
  4. Ahm, I thought OOB meant not changing anything. But really nice so far! I love Phantoms but never got to do one of the British versions.
  5. Well, that is the straw! Anyone wanna buy my stash? Seriously, that is serously good work!
  6. While I second (or maybe eigth) the previous comments I would also like to say "nice build"! Yes, the paint is a little glossy, but hey, maybe the German equivelant of an air pageant, all polished up!
  7. In the dim recesses of my memory (I am somewhat old, but not yet venerable) I recall reading somewhere that there were 2 different shades of Olive Drab, intended for different types of equipment or climates, but were often used interchangabley because of wartime conditions. I may be misremembering or the source may have been wrong.
  8. Unfortunately there isn't an Aldi in Townsville, but I got (more than) several Starter kits last year when I was living in Sydney. Spitfires, P-51s, Zeroes, and even a tank! They are all new tool and all still unbuilt! Edited for atrocious spelling!
  9. Oh, vac form canopies can yellow? I've never used them before, but I do have a couple for future builds, so I'd be interested in knowing the answers too. Dennis
  10. I'm with Darby on this. I only use rattle cans or hairy sticks, but I do live where I can pretty much go outside any time of year to spray paint at my models.
  11. I'm still here...ah...sometimes. I'll have to remember that thing with the top turret.
  12. I like the look the AK paste gives, Ced! I've heard about it but never seen it used. Dennis
  13. That is just groovy! You almost expect to see Sean Connery running for the cockpit.
  14. Ohh, lovely! Must admit that I've bought some of the railway figures for a (future) diorama as well. Great way of getting civilian figures.
  15. I love flying boats and seaplanes, an that is a beautiful example of how to do a model of one.
  16. In the first image there appears to be the bottom of a code, a single straight stroke. So you can deduce the letter was F, I, P, T or Y, if that is of any help. The second picture shows a rounded code, so C, G, J, O, Q, S or U, but looking carefully I think it is Q. Since I have the Airfix kit too I have been reading this with interest.
  17. Sorry for taking so long to get back with this. For more information on the air raids on Townsville the first stop would be http://www.ozatwar.com/thejaps.htm
  18. I have a soft spot for all the phabulous F-4 variants, and the RN ones always look good. Nice job! DennisTheBear
  19. Nice! I have one in the stash. DennisTheBear
