Ah, now that was a vintage year, the one when Concorde was chartered.

I have a horrible suspicion that the chap in the white shirt walking around the Dutch P-3 may be me ...

Here are a few negative scans from an unusually sunny air day at RAF St Mawgan, August 1987:

Look at how much that sun has faded this vistor!

Great shots, thanks for posting

Good shots sir. Look at those Phantoms, Buccs, Jag, a Provost and an A10 in shades of green, ahhhhhhhh

I really, really, miss the Cold War. :drink:

Superb pic's. Brought back happy memories. That was the last Mawgan show I got to before joining up the RAF. Remember balancing on the hedge at the south end of the airfield getting arrivals pictures and trying not to fall into the holiday traffic!! Got prints somewhere myself I will have to scan.

Great pics!

Do you have any of the Canberra next to the A-10?

Yes, it was WH718 / CW, an ex 7 Squadron Canberra 'back home'.

Thanks for all the comments, it certainly was a great show. It would be nice to go back in time with a digital camera.

I am currently working in the Green 'shed' in your photo's. I think it used to be the old Sea King shed. A drafty old thing of late with the cold wind whistling through the doors not a patch on the sunny days in your photo's.

Nice to see such a mix of fixed winged a/c's a far cry from St Mawgan today.

Wot! No Nimrods?

No Mate

All the crab flying has stopped now, just us civvies.

AgustaWestland Operational Flight Training School now lives in the green shed.

The only fixed winged a/c's are the Flybe sheds and Skybus Shorts save the odd 152 floating in and out.

Sleepy hollow.

Cheers the Woo.

A TT.Mk.18 - basically an adapted B.Mk.2.

I recall the Italian F-104's a various airshows of yesteryear. They definitely put on a good flying display.

Thanks for the memories.
