Alpha Delta 210 Posted May 19, 2019 Share Posted May 19, 2019 Hi I spent two days at Mont-de-Marsan, near Bordeaux for my first ever Tiger Meet. Thursday was spent outside the base in beautiful weather, but the Spotters' Day on Base Aérienne 118 Mont-de-Marsan on Friday couldn't have been more different. It rained most of the day, which meant that my cameras and I were in our waterproofs! I took many, many images but here are a few from outside the wire. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. 11. 12. The weather was indeed a contrast between the days! Fortunately, the weather forecast was accurate, which at least meant that I had appropriate clothing with me! I'm interested that you liked those three images, Latinbear. I was trying to capture two aircraft to make the images more exciting, but I wasn't sure that the two images framed by the trees "worked". I was trying to frame them so that the eye was drawn to the aircraft, but I wondered if the trees were more of a distraction. Being completely sun burnt in 31'c sun on Thursday to being drenched with pouring rain and a crazy 20'c colder on Friday was a strange mix! However, this made for interesting photos. The low light led to many slow shutter challenges between me and the team, keeping the iso non above 200 and shooting typhoons at 1/20th was just real good fun! As you say, the conditions were varied and challenging across the two days! 1/20th? Wow, that's impressive! Did you get many keepers? The slowest shutter speed I used was 1/60th on the first wave taxi shots and 1/80th on the landing roll-out shots when the weather has improved nearer to 17.00. I love a challenge when it comes to shooting aircraft. As for keepers, I'd say 90% are keepers. I've earned the nickname of "iron arm" from the guys in the Spanish AF.
