billn53
The subject of this build is "Wag's War Wagon", a DeHavilland Mosquito Mk.VI of No. 605 Squadron. Flight Officer Alan Wagner flew Wag’s War-Wagon and became an ace in the plane on the night of March 5/6, 1944. After its March 5/6, 1944 mission, Wagner’s aircraft carried two victory markings for Japanese aircraft Wagner claimed over Ceylon earlier in the war, along with three marks for the German aircraft shot down—two Me 410s and a FW 190. In total, Wagner shot down nine confirmed enemy aircraft and two V-1s. Tragically, he was killed while chasing a V-1 “buzz bomb” in heavy fog when his speeding Tempest fighter struck the ground in July of 1944. He was 29 years old. Built in 1/72 from Tamiya's excellent kit and a bunch of aftermarket. My WIP can be reviewed here: https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235035750-yank-does-a-mosquito/ Enjoy the photos! While researching this build, I learned that the Flying Heritage & Combat Armor Museum in Everett, Washington owns a flight-worthy Mosquito that has been repainted in the War Wagon's scheme. Google will point you to many photos and in-flight videos of this beautifully restored aircraft. Thanks for viewing! FatFlyHalf
Nice build and nicely displayed Small point in your backstory but if - as I believe - Alan Wagner was in the RAF his rank when flying the Mossie was Flying Officer then he was promoted to Flight Lieutenant, the rank he held at the time of his demise. Hairtrigger
Wow outstanding build. Looks like the genuine article in those pics really fooled me at first view. Considering that is 1:72 scale mind blowing. I really must get that kit in the future.

My last two builds were each stressful. This one because of all the AM, and the one before (DML's DO 335 Arrow night fighter) because the kit's fit was so poor. I think it's time for something a little more whimsical that won't take too much time & effort. If you followed my Arrow build ( https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235034172-luft-46-dornier-do-335-b-8-high-altitude-nightfighter/& ) you might recall that I had to steal a canopy from a Hobby Boss kit to replace the disaster that DML gave me. So now I have this "easy assembly" kit in my stash: but no canopy. What to do? What to do? I have a plan, but you'll just have to wait and see what it is haha! kapam
Crikey, that's a really nice Mozzie, in my favourite scale! Brilliant work, especially with all the extras you added. Is this the preferred kit in 1/72 (compared to, say, the Hasegawa kit)?

billn53
I have finally finished off the base with various figures and other props, to build a simple diorama for my Mossie. Here are a few pics: I've posted more pics in the diorama forum, here: https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235038352-pull-your-finger-out-we-have-a-date-with-jerry-tonight/ Edited May 19, 2018 by billn53
