Sebastien
Let's drop the mouse for a moment or three, and get back to giving plastic cruel and unusual punishment. As promised, I did the access hatch (and ejection hatch for the navigator). I made a rectangle in which the hatch will be inserted, and this rectangle will be glued to the fuselmage and sanded into shape. The whole assembly with the navigator's seat (a seat I built for the cockpit and discarded as I wasn't happy with it. Doesn't matter much, nothing will be seen unless you're close enough to look at it from below the model. Remember my right foot?). The hatch is only held in place by friction. From down the hatch: To be continued. Cheers, S.

The brakes won't be detailed (anyway, anybody close enough to check the brakes will be in range of my right foot, so...). Making the holes (27 of them) was entertaining, I'm lucky a friend of ine, who's forgotten more about CAD than I'll ever learn, told me how to do it. So Tom, if you want a set of 1/48 B-52 wheels, just honk. Cheers, S. Hi Sebastien, I'm also investigating getting some wheels printed, but I'll keep your very kind offer in mind should it not come to fruition. The same offer applies to you - if things don't go quite to plan with your efforts, let me know. Tom

Tom Hi Tom, Here is the first print of a wheel: There are a few points I want to correct, and once I'm satisfied I'll use a professional service to have a wheel printed. I guess building a big vacform Buff is preferable to chasing little green men or following the voices in your head to unscrupulous ends. I've just caught up with Tom's build as well. Not been on the site much lately so only just seen the threads. Superb stuff.
Sebastien
And I received today the printed instrument panel. I must say I'm quite happy with the result. Tom, do you want a copy? Cheers, S.

For a first pass that's pretty good, though I think a different colour If you make these I'll have a set too please. I am slowly getting the cash together to buy one. Very nice work so far. I'm learning a lot and that's got to be good.

Sebastien
I've started building the undercarriage. It will be made of brass tubing, because there's going to be quite a bit of weight on it. Here is the frame. The legs will have 1mm brass wire going through them, and will be were you can see the brass wire: And the first upper leg; The legs swivel, and so far it's OK with the fuselage. I've sent the wheel to the printer (yes, I know, this sentence is interesting). Cheers, S.
Killingholme
would it be worth soldering the brass structure for extra security?

Lex77
Well done so far. Now this is a build to bookmark as I have the H version. If you are going to make more of those sets I'm interested in one too.

I will make another set of landing gear for my H, but I don't think I'll make more (well, maybe a third if I ever get a G version too). I'll make wheel resin sets though, and if you want some, PM me for the details. Cheers, S.
Sebastien
The first gear leg , still to be assembled: And in place: The only glued parts are the oleo and the bit through which the axle goes. I still have lots of ways to ajdust ifwhen needed. To be continued! Cheers, S.

corsaircorp
wow Sebastien ! Really great job ! I really appreciate the thread ! I promised to stay at a respectable distance from your right foot !! Whatever, nothing has to be said when looking at such a great amount of scratchbuilding. Long ago, I had friend who was defense system operator on the Buff ! He fought over Viet Nam and remember the long hours spent is a so uncomfortable cockpit ! That was a nightmare as he said ! He told how terrific it was to be fired at by some SAM ! Something like being naked alone in a square with lots of demons trying to nail you.... Keep up that great work ! Congratulations ! Sincerely.
