  1. ‘Major’ was a legend. RIP
  2. First, IMHO Slow Horse is one of the best series on TV. It’s on Apple TV+ and TV series made for this platform have not typically made it to standard TV channels. Never say never and all that, but I’m not aware of series/films making the leap.
  3. Errr… no, we didn’t. I served on 74 in 1987. I never, ever heard anyone on the sqn use the term F3 to describe our jets. They were Js, full stop. The F3 was known as the Big Grey Target.
  4. As I understand it, the intake in question is to cool the fuel system. F-35 uses fuel inside the aircraft to cool many aircraft systems, rather than dissipating heat through exhaust grills.
  5. If this is ‘the’ Trumpeter, they appear to have an American outlet store. ADDRESS 2457 West Virginia Avenue Greenfield Ctr. NY, United States (US) 12833
  6. We have 15 F4Js Some are blue and some are grey, There is nothing with a Spey, That is anything like a J J J J…. Decent build. Decent. From an ex-Tiger’s perspective, you’ve nailed it.
  7. It’s decent as an aviation film. In achieving that, it doesn’t go in huge depth of the two original book’s core themes, one of which is the title, Devotion. The other theme could have been covered in more depth IMHO and informed opinion, but that’s the balance the film maker has to weigh up. I would highly recommend Adam Makos’s book.
  8. …or in other words, the title of the thread could read, Airfix 2024 ‘wish list’….
  9. F-4J(UK) was cleared for and did use the gun pod as used on the FGR.2. Harmonisation wasn’t the best, but it could be fitted and the crews went through annual armament practice camp at RAF Akrotiri to qualify and be re-validated.
  10. ZM did a decal sheet (F-4J (UK), Phantom II F-4J Marking Set SWS48-04-D01) which came out with the UK release of their F-4J. As has been mentioned, a few mods would be required to make the kit as an F-4J(UK). As for the blue/grey/green, I’ve phound that FS35414 is a very good match.
  11. Great build. A bit late I know, but the National Archives may be the best place to start for your Uncle’s Service Records. https://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/help-with-your-research/research-guides/royal-air-force-personnel/
  12. My ‘Pusher’ has advised that the first 40 have arrived and my pre-order is on the way. 😃
  13. You may have heard of off the cuff though, which is where it originates from. Good effort on the model BTW, cuffing it is fine.
