dswoofie Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 (edited) Here's my Tamiya 1/20 1983 Renault RE30B of Rene Arnoux, built for the Britmodeller World Motorsport Group Build. The in-progress thread can be found HERE... Here's the finished article... Mmmmmm, Shiny Wheels!!! And here's the helmet added for effect!! An enjoyable build even though I had a few issues! All worth it in the end. Karl. Edited March 4, 2008 by dswoofie
keefr22 Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Karl, That is just beautiful!!! The paint looks excellent, the decals look to have gone on really well & the overall look of the model is simply stunning!! You were worried that the body wasn't going to sit well on the chassis - it looks perfect in the pics, did it actually turn out as good as it looks? Brilliant build, stunning model!! Cheers Keef
dswoofie Posted March 4, 2008 Author Posted March 4, 2008 Thanks Keef! It's not perfect no, but I'm very happy with it anyway. I was very worried about the bodyshell fitting, I had to twist the chassis something rotten to get it to fit as well as it does, lots of twisting, glueing, and holding it together for an age!! Karl.
Skii Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Hi Karl Quite superb - amazing how Racing car design has changed over the years, the front wing is tiny ! Excellent paintwork and attention to detail. Congratulations on an excellent build, really is a flawless job
T-Tango Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Super build Karl, well done mate, really looks the dogs whatsits.
Dr_Fester Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Hey Karl, superb job on the RE-30 mate. Very nice detail throughout and finish looks spot on. (Glad you didn't build it as the Prof's mount! ) Well done. Doc
tjn Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 (edited) beautiful work - that looks stunning. 'amazing how Racing car design has changed over the years, the front wing is tiny' the RE-30B was the 1982 car - the last year ground effect cars ran. if front wings were fitted (some cars ran without) they were only there for trimming the effects of the main body of the car, not providing all the front downforce as they do now. Niki Lauda has a few interesting things to say about them in his autobiography, as he left the sport as the wing cars were being introduced, and then came back in the last year they ran. dswoofie Posted March 4, 2008 Author Posted March 4, 2008 ...the RE-30B was the 1982 car - Bugger, stupid typo... I'll change the title... Thanks! Karl.
desmojen Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Having had the pleasure of viewing the real thing this afternoon I can attest that the pictures do it justice! It's a lovely job Karl, very well done Jen.
Mike Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Nice job Karl (of the car as well as learning to change the title ). Pics without flash look better...
Obi-Jiff Kenobi Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 That's looking very nice Karl, especially after the little niggles you had with it. Top stuff.
Grant Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 Isn't she lovely! The acres of room they had for putting radiators etc in is amazing. And thank you Karl - I am glad to see I am not the only one leaving PRMs where the Sun don't normally shine. cheers Grant
