A Quartet ( maybe even a Quintet) of tigers

Recommended Posts

I thought I’d put a placeholder thread up ( lead by example and all that)

I shall be building four ( possibly five) Tiger variants.

My four definites.

The possible fifth, which if I build it will be a combination of resin copies from the four kits and scratch built bits….

Some foam board, ca a straight edge and a scalpel and I have a fifth chasis copied from the VK4502, kit . A few more panels to add and then I’ll skin it with plastic card. Then do the same with the Tiger I turret.

Interesting choices and I 'may' have some copies of kit funf as well, you can't beat a bit of scratch-building.

I'll echo @MARADER about the turret on the Italeri kit it would be worth a few minutes to sort out the issues bearing in mind the work you are putting in. But it's your pack of Tiggies after all.

@Enzo the Magnificent has been a bad influence on you although kit retailers probably worship him for the trade they get as a result.

IMG-0812.jpgStarted getting the road wheels ready for paint one down four more to go. Of course I will have to divert and cast a set for VK4501 From either the elegant or VK4502

Now that I think of it apart from the odd split line what’s so heinous about the Italeiri Tiger I turret? I’ve downloaded and scaled some plans to check it against.

A tower is not symmetric. It can be seen, if to look from above. A cannon is located along the central axis of corps. It is done in an order on the left to place two members of crew. I did not know about it, while did not read in a magazine.🙂

Road wheels. Ready for paint. I’m now thinking primer, silver, red oxide then camo.

But, I think I need to divert and make the set of wheels for the fifth chassis. More to follow when I can get around.

IMG-0825.jpgAt least I have some company while I convalesce.

IMG-0831.jpgmy stupid leg and my hospital pyjamas. 😡

IMG-0832.jpgsprockets from the Elephant

IMG-0833.jpg

Blue stuff freshly microwaved

IMG-0834.jpg

Squish on the blue stuff and leave to cook

IMG-0836.jpg

Two part resin. I use a weighing scales to ensure a correct mix.

IMG-0837.jpgsprocket mold ready for another go

IMG-0838.jpg

Poured about twenty mls of resin

IMG-0839.jpgCures in about ten to twenty minutes.

IMG-0835.jpgresin castings before cleanup.

So I’ve done 24 road wheels next I have to do two sets of sprockets.
