These pints don't drink themselves!

And that Churchill won't build itself!! 😂🤣

But if you're insistant on buying, mines a lager .... 🍻

Omg !!

I miss Banks’s mild on tap.
23 years now, without it.

Right, by popular demand.....

Construction essentially following the given instructions:

Decided it was simpler to show the instructions for this stage.

spacer.png

Engine cover hatches with interior detail. Part E19 the eye that the hatch stay locates on, if displaying the engine. Four are attached to A41, fine no problem,  all present and correct. Four are attached to the hatches, one on each....one survives, three have been propelled across to goodness knows where. These are so tiny I didn't even both wasting time looking for them, I guess I'll have one hatch open then.

A quick aside part B11 has been miss numbered, it isn't B11.

spacer.png

Hatches temporarily tacked shut. Exhausts fitted along with shields.

Moving to the rear end...no cheap jokes please!

spacer.png

Bit of pe work, smoke dischargers particularly well detailed imo.

spacer.png

Back panel on, getting closer to the inevitable....

spacer.png

So far so good...

spacer.png

spacer.pngBoth sides have been made up, so far so good.

Basically the build is oob following the instructions. Apart from a couple of miss- numbered parts all's going ok 🤞

You should have said....All you need is to ask the barman to pour all the dregs from the slop tray into a glass add the contents of the nearest ash tray, sieve and voila....mild!

Bon appetit

Yay!  Daryls back!

Not sure about your recipe for mild .... 🤢  but!  The Churchill is looking good 👍

Hopefully parts being lost wasn't linked to visiting the pub and tge after effects? 🤔😂

Ahh Lee, you're too kind, spent so much time working on it.

Great work Darryl. Just a wild guess here, but I'd say that that kit is a tad more complicated than the Tamiya one.

John.

Having never built the Tamiya one I can't say with authority but.....

I've a small hunch it might be.

(Tried to work the small hunchback at the office gag in from the classic film Airplane  but couldn't make it work :fraidnot:).

Too kind, its usually oh-no Darryls back.

Thought i was being generous about mild, have you tried the stuff, it's like fermented dish water.

Maybe the booze would have helped...🤔

I did end up being called out to the mother in laws boiler last Sat night after it packed in, we'd been out for a birthday do. As I pointed out at the time, it wasn't the sort of owd boiler I'd anticipated ending the evening with...Well I laughed.

FYI, the wife didn't appreciate it as much as I'd hoped, however I'd got her mothers boiler working....no pleasing some folk!

Looking good Darryl, coming along very nicely. On a side note, now that Bank’s mild was mentioned, I loved the stuff, my local used to put everything in, even the shorts, you could get absolutely rat ar**d for a quid….🤪

Should have tried Young Frankenstein rather than Airplane

I have build the the old tamiya kit and i can say ( with authority ) that this looks way more complex. Not the building stuff that goes together with a few pints. However, you are doing a good job so far.

Nice that this kit has working suspention. Doesn't look too complicated.

Keep it up!

There's always one....

After the early bout of confidence things got a touch more complicated....

spacer.png

These go around the spring suspension units.

spacer.png

spacer.png

The instructions would have you sandwich the swinging arms between the two halves but I found it easier to install them afterwards due to lack of trained cephalopod.

spacer.png

Now it gets fun...particularly when you realise some TET had managed to glue one of the sprung suspension units into place....180° out.

spacer.png

No matter what I couldn't ease it free and then, of course, it broke.

I've glued it back into position, the correct position,  this time.

(I've the same problem to deal with on the other side too.... I'm blaming the instructions, they don't specify clearly which way around these need to go!)

Hopefully once set I can get at least one side fully assembled. 🤞

Secondary build for this aft....

Not completely sure this is the right section for this build but if Lee's thread includes a foodie section, or should we call it Spudgate! Mine can include this.....

spacer.png

A pottery hen. No idea what this will turn out like once fired and glazed but I couldn't get a decent panel line wash, any modulation or dry brushing to work on it!

Apparently its feet are a little too large too for absolutely accuracy,  hope we don't get plagued with rivet counters!

We'll excuse the hen incursion Daryl ....... but it's those feather counters you need to watch! 😎

Hopefully, and with thanks to Lee's helpful guidance, you've mastered the suspension units ....

Now, if you'll excuse me .... one, two, three, four, five, six ...........

All thanks to Lee's timely incursion....

Don't know what I'd have done without him.

It was as if those hands reached across the pond...

One side almost done, just needs the side of the sponson and wheels.

Don't worry Darryl, it will be much easier when you build your next AFV Club Churchill..... bridge layer isn't it?  :wicked:

Looking good Darryl, I had to double check if this was a Miniart kit your doing, looked like it with all those parts in that assembly. Now that you have had a taste you'll be knocking out Miniart kits in no time 😁

Steady on Ed, I'll need time to lie down in a darkened room after this!

I've no idea what sort of masochist even entertaines one of those,  particularly the full interior ones....
