Basosz Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 Damn Erwin, that's pretty radical. Why weren't you happy with the trenches? They looked great to me. Love your attitude that it's just a step backwards
Erwin Posted November 19, 2012 Author Posted November 19, 2012 (edited) Damn Erwin, that's pretty radical. Why weren't you happy with the trenches? They looked great to me. Love your attitude that it's just a step backwards Hi, The brickpattern was printed cardboard. It didn't join well on top of the walls. With plastic I can use filler.Plus that their was no depth. With these plastic ones it will be more realistic. Edited November 19, 2012 by Erwin
HL-10 Posted November 20, 2012 Posted November 20, 2012 Erwin, it takes a lot of guts to go back and change something you're not happy with when the project was so advanced. Well done! I'm sure your changes will make it look even better than it did
Erwin Posted November 22, 2012 Author Posted November 22, 2012 (edited) I did the trenches again using 3 mm plasticcard for the walls. I also changed the lay-out a bit. The beachbocks and dragon's teeth will be added again when doing the final layer of paste. Edited November 22, 2012 by Erwin
Erwin Posted November 25, 2012 Author Posted November 25, 2012 (edited) Hi all, Maybe hard to believe, but I ripped it all out again. The plastic trenches just didn't look right again. This resulted in some paintdamage on the bunkers. So I will repaint them too. Nothing to worry about. The project is still on. Basosz Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 Blimey Erwin Will you ever be happy with the look ?
j_jza80 Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 (edited) It looked great before! But always nice to see a perfectionist at work, looking forward to seeing how this turns out. Edited November 29, 2012 by j_jza80
Erwin Posted November 29, 2012 Author Posted November 29, 2012 Started on the trenches again. This time doing floor and wall one at a time. Painting the brickwork is simple.First a coat of lightgray. After some drying I whipe it of leaving paint between the bricks to create the cement.
Erwin Posted December 7, 2012 Author Posted December 7, 2012 (edited) I pre-shaped the dunes with styrofoam. I still need to finish some walls before I can start with the final layer of woodpaste to make the "sand". Edited December 7, 2012 by Erwin
Chris W. Balmer Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 This is tremendous work... loving this!
Hamden Posted December 8, 2012 Posted December 8, 2012 This is fantastic work - I would have given up after the first remake!!!!! Watching your progress with interest Roger
Erwin Posted December 15, 2012 Author Posted December 15, 2012 (edited) All concrete obstacles are back in place. After completing the walls,I will add the final layer of paste. Edited December 30, 2012 by Erwin
Erwin Posted December 27, 2012 Author Posted December 27, 2012 (edited) I'm adding a small storage building. Edited December 29, 2012 by Erwin
Erwin Posted January 10, 2013 Author Posted January 10, 2013 (edited) I've added the final layer of paste.  I mixed grass with the wet paste rather than having to glue grass lateron. This gives a smooth overflow from the beach to the back of the diorama.  It now has to dry.So the colour might change a bit.       Edited January 10, 2013 by Erwin 1

Erwin Posted January 20, 2013 Author Posted January 20, 2013 (edited) The paste is now fully dry and hard. The next step is placing more beachobstacles. Â I also bought this truck kit to go with the storage building... Â Â Â Edited January 20, 2013 by Erwin
Erwin Posted January 24, 2013 Author Posted January 24, 2013 (edited) First start on the beach and dunes.I'm using longgrass patches to add some green.I won't overdo it. There will come more obstacles latereon on the beach. Edited January 26, 2013 by Erwin
