  1. Of course, anyone can use that idea. They make great scratch built bits and bobs, jk
  2. Thanks James, it's a really nice kit, which is fun to build. I have some paint on it today. I've used Alclad. Come out good, I think,
  3. Hi folks, I've posted a couple of WIP pics on the other forum. Here is the finished product mounted on a scratch built base. Thanks for looking
  4. So, here is my rendition of Vader's TIE fighter. It's a Bandi (I think). I've tried to upgrade it with a few LED's to give it some extra umph. I then mounted it on a base made out of a Nerf gun and other bits of left over stuff. Thanks for looking
  5. Hello folks, a long time and no post. Been exceedingly busy with work rather than life. That aside, I usually do armour, but thought I would have a change with the Haunebu by Revell. I thought overall it was quite plain, so I have added a few additions, extra greebles, and LED's The underside The 'control room' The insidey bit I also opened up a couple of hatches and tried to scribe some panel lines. That was my first go with the panel lines, not brilliant, but I learnt a lot about doing them, A couple more
  6. Update. Many days have passed in sweet isolation. This has led to an incredible amount of DIY chores. Progress on the tiger has been slow, but it there has been progress. Again, apologies for the photos. They were taken with my Iphone. It's starting to take shape. Still lots to work on, but I can see the end. Vignette coming along too. I had to insert two extra track links... grrrrr Top elevation Reasonably happy with the exhausts, except for the massive over scale thickness of the shields. Hope to do a bit more tomorrow. Finish the details, and finalise the weathering. However, painting the outside porch has also been slated.
  7. This is a lovely, crisp and neat job. Fantastic jk
  8. Looking great. I think the chipping and paint fade is particularly life like jk
  9. Evening folks. Hope all is well with you all. So.... there's been some progress. I'm aiming at something like this, So, I used the hairspray for the first coat. Worked OK, A little hard on the turret, and a little easy on the body. But happy enough with it. I then used Vallejo washable white for the second coat, followed by a layer of matt varnish, also Vallejo. Then today, I started some weathering and washing with a mix of Tamiya flat black, light grey, and khaki. Excuse the lighting. I've kept the rear bin grey, to look like it came from another tank possibly. Again, this was the case on the reference photo, and I thought it was an interesting detail. I will try and get some better close up shots tomorrow, but generally happy with the progress.
  10. No problem at all Steve. I'm an academic for my day job, so quite used to having my work criticised hahah. It'll be pretty much white anyway. There is so much info out there, it's always difficult to get it right first go anyway. This is my first Tiger, and just wanted to get a build done.
  11. Hi Steve, yep thanks for that. You're not coming across as an bottom. When I was looking around last week for colour schemes, I noted that they had moved to the dunklegelb, but I'd already decided on the grey... so... historically inaccurate, but I can live with it... I think. Thanks for the comment. jk
  12. Morning folks. So... been busy with chores, and have had to wait for paint. But, it's turned up Finally managed to get some paint on the beast. I have had a go at colour modulation, which I think has worked OK. Like I say, been out for about 7 years, so still finding my feet with the techniques. I then gave it a couple of layers of Klear, and have started some gentle weathering (wear on the paint). Most of this will be covered with the winter camo, but I'll know it's there. The paint was very very mat, which might be due to the fact that some of it was very old, or I was having to use my cheap airbrush (Iwata, all the o rings had perished). Anyway happy with the result. Also got the decals on. These were terrible to 'mush' in to the model. They do look better this morning after a mat coat. Thanks for looking people. Speak soon, jk
  13. Cheers Darryl, maybe some progress today.. depending on chores.
  14. Thanks folks. Work suspended until household chores are done today
  15. Thanks Andy, I will check it out. Here are some more from today A little more on the base. Added a sturdy fence (sans clothes peg) Ive cast some ice from resin, cling film, and a drop or 2 of XF2 Tiger has had the first coat or 2 of primer. It will be smashing through the ice of course.
  16. Yep we are struggling here, with the 2 girls off too. Harry, is there a better repository for the photos. Photobucket was it 5-6 years ago, but would be very happy yo have I didn't have to pay for haha jk
  17. Thanks Jasper, its coming along. I have cast some ice this morning, which I am happy with. I'll get some photos up later.
  18. Evening folks, it's been years since I have posted on this site, and even longer since I made a model. But... corona shut down has put me back in the shed. So, here is what I have built over the last 4 days. Really enjoyed it. It's built out of the box, no extras, as a couldn't be bothered waiting for anything to arrive. I had the odd few bits and bobs, like fuel drums, jerry cans etc, which I have used. Tracks were fun Going for the beat up look The dio is going to be a simple one. Called "Lost in the pocket". I have never done anything with ice before, so this will be my first attempt. Trying to simulate ome battle damage Build almost finished. More tomorrow. Thanks for checking it out jk
  19. unbelievably, its been 4 years since i posted here. primarily due to competing in triathlon, followed by a very bad illness. So, my athletic days are over, I thought I might try and resurrect my modelling, such as it is. So here are a few progress pics THINK I MISSED THE GROUP BUILD THOUGH, JK
  20. Hi folks, not strictly a work in progress, although it is impeding my progress. I have an o ring disintegrating and was gonna buy some from Iwata..... till I saw the price. Can i use any o ring from an ironmongers for example. If so, anyone any idea of the size? Iwata Neo. Want to replace all if I can, jk
