  1. And five and a half years later this tip worked again! Brilliant, Thanks Mike. Cheers John
  2. Hi Mick, That's a pretty nice Type 89. It's a nice kit isn't it? As most of the IBG kits are. I like what you've done on the base, something I'm going to have to try soon. Great work John
  3. Very nice work, despite your struggles with the kit.
  4. A master class indeed! beautiful construction work. John
  5. I just watched a YouTube video by Night Shift showing a similar effect on 1/72 T-90. I'm going to have to try that. J
  6. HI Rav, That's really nice. I haven't bought any First to Fight kits, but based on the look of this I'm going to have to invest. Great job, love the finish. All the best John
  7. Gotta love anything in 1/72nd. This looks magnificent. Nice job! ModelCollect kits are great, but can be quite challenging in places. They really assume that you know what you are doing, but I love them, particularly their T-72s. All the best John
  8. Hi Wayne, That really is a cracker, despite the Tamiya decals! Look forward to seeing the A10 & A9 John
  9. Nice job, that hessian camo must have taken a while.
  10. Thanks again for all the kind words guys much appreciated. Actually riever49 it is the Bronco kit I have not the Gecko, The tracks look fine although I have the desert version and realise that for a full Caunter scheme I need the additional fuel tank on the front left track guard which is only available in the Balkans campaign version of the kit. Oh well I guess I'll have to do one of those as well😀
  11. Lovely job, love the way you have created a worn effect. How did you do that? Best John
  12. Wow, that's top class, love the fading/chipping effect allowing the old green base to come through.
  13. Very nicely done, its hard to make a large area of single colour look interesting. Nice details. John
  14. Nice work Phil, love the dangling ties at the front John
  15. Thanks for the kind words Murdo. I agree it does look a bit toy like unpainted, actually the moulding is pretty nice, just needs a bit of cleaning up here and there. Not up to IBG's current standard, but still OK. I have the Gecko A10 waiting to go, this was a dry run for camo masking, it has to be easier in 1/35 ;-) Thanks John
  16. Hi Guys, This is my first posting of a built model here, hope you like it. Its the brand new 1/72nd scale A9 Cruiser MkI from IBG, sold under their World at War brand. I have to say that for £9.99 here in the UK this is tremendous value for money. I'm no rivet counter (and there are lots of rivets on this kit) but it looks and feels like an A9 to me. The only deal-breaker for some will be the way the tracks are represented, and it really is a shame, considering what IBG are capable of. The wheels and tracks are moulded as a single unit as per some of the other kits they make. The problem here is two fold. Firstly the characteristic slots in the track surface are missing, and secondly there is no representation of the gap between the outer guide horns in the inside of the track. When IBG have done this on other kits I have of theirs it has been fine, as there was only a single centre horn, which is easy to represent with a two part mould. Outside guide horns would be very difficult to represent accurately without making the tracks a separate item. One could also open out the cooling slots over the engine bay. I dodged this with paint. I painted the kit in a Caunter pattern I found on the web using AK's Real Colours, thinned with Mr Color Self-Leveling Thinner I looked and looked for a prototype to model but couldn't find anything suitable so this is the finished thing with no unit markings. Probably overdid the weathering, but it looks more restrained in the plastic, so to speak, than in the photos. Next time, and there will be a next time, I really enjoyed building this, I will have a go at making the tracks look better. And add an aerial! I'm sure someone will come along and tell me why this is nothing like an A9, but It went together in a couple of evenings, fit was good to excellent and with the exception of the tracks was a hugely enjoyable experience, even masking the Caunter scheme. Highly recommended, with the caveats above. All the best John So on with the pics
  17. Perfection in scale. I don't see how it can get any better than this. Magnificent! Hope to see it in all its glory at Telford. J
  18. I know it's early in the morning, but I had to do a double take on the first image I thought it was an undiscovered original colour photo. Outstanding work. well don Regards John
  19. Great idea, I love what you have done with the canopy. I cut mine like you did and found it doesn't fit over the spine of the plane. This is an interesting way of overcoming this problem. I'm thinking of buying a vacform to replace the sliding piece. Nice job, well done.
