  1. Oh, but in my case, swmbo has proven herself to be a very shrewd shopper; at one instance, she even bought a special edition Fokker D.VII rather than the Weekend Edition one "because it had etched brass parts". However, when I ask her to pick something up for me at the lhs, she'll always find a nice helicopter model for herself to build, and tends to forget why she went there in the first place...
  2. Do they ship parts to a continental European (in this case German) address as well?
  3. I bought ths kit and I am delighted. In addition, I phoned Revell and asked them if they still had the decals from the previous Seaking kit, as I'd like to build the all-white version. A very nice lady replied that she'd check, but told me not to hold my hopes too high, as the kit in question has been out of production for 12 or so years. A week later, the decal sheet arrived. Free of charge, to boot. Thank you Revell, that's what I call outstanding service!
  4. Interesting one. You don't see many Italian Typhon models around, actually, and you've done a splendid job on yours.
  5. Utter tosh, imho. You can check "Paninternationsl flight 112", which in the early 1970s was a German BAC 1-11 that made an emergency landing on an unused stretch of Autobahn to find out why that maneuver is just not feasible with a 747 (back then, 22 perished when the wings and rudder were sheared off by a bridge - and that was a much, much smaller airliner). Seems like the article's writer is out to see his face on the news more than give useful information of what happened in the skies over Lockerbie.
  6. I'd like to take part as well. My idea is a scene set in early 1945. Somewhere in north Germany, a few lone Me 262 recce jets have been hidden, almost stashed away so they can take off at any time. Their state is sad, delivered with just a coat of primer shot on them because the paint shipment didn't get to factory, jet fuel in barrels hand-pumped into the plane's tanks, under some early spring foliage and an Autobahn sign providing a smidgeon of cover from aerial attacks. The autobahn itself is to serve as a makeshift runway, and behind a rather large tree, the unit's mascot is taking a nap inmidst the photo developing equipment. All the soldiers know that their situation is dire, miles and miles of refugees, dressed in rags and left with nothing but their bare lives after scores of allied strafings. The Gustloff disaster is in anybody's mind, and it is no longer hope that keeps the women and children going, but the sheer fear of rape, torture, and death by Soviet hands. The only reason the Wehrmacht is even fighting is to ensure that as many people as possible, civilians as well as soldiers, can make it out of the designeted Soviet sector. This is why these recce units are so badly needed; communication lines have all but broken down, and hearsay is the only source of information - along with the pictures taken by the, albeit flame new, decrepit-looking Messerschmitt Wunderwaffe. Can I enter?
  7. Nothing will happen that China - the US' largest debtor - doesn't want to happen. NATO or not.
  8. Sweet job. I second Mark - the green scheme is the best looking one.
  9. Invective abuse makes the parts fit better. Fact.
  10. Must be quite the shelf warmer - my dealer still has one in its original ESCI boxing, with a price tag in Deutsche Mark attached to it. Maybe I should buy it? NOT!
  11. I very strongly reject that notion, when it comes to my persona anyway. I am in no way a flashy show-off whose mind and in fact every aspect of life, every thought is controlled by and adheres to the teachings of a dodgy cult. Do I have faults, do I make mistakes? You bet - but I do not need to have them brainwashed out of me; they're part of my persona, and I accept them for what they are. Can you imagine Tom Cruise strring in a Top Gun/Brokeback Mountain crossover? Me neither.
  12. It'll be the Germans, because a.) it's always pc to bash them and b.) they're taking a tough stance on Cruise's beloveth Scientology.
  13. Two questions: - would you want to buy/build an early beetle (split rear windows/bug eyes), a leter one (one piece rear window/bug eyes), or a late moder version w/o th "bug-eyed headlights" - what scale would you like to build in I think I can help you out, but I`d need that info first. Greetz, Tom
  14. That's the silhouette of my home town painted on the helo - the crane from the HDW shipyard, the city hall, the Gorch Fock sailship... Homesick. Tom
  15. Hi Giorgio, the composite ones are included (only), but the instructions show what'd need to be cut away for an earlier version.
  16. Apart from the commemorative paint scheme, you can build a three-tone gray experimental liveried Mk.41 as it appeared in 1986. I love this kit; mine will very probably build into this: or the all-white version. Might as well start a WIP thread when I start the kit.
  17. Are you sure that British Typhoons can be had? I am aware of the defense budget cuts, but I'd have guessed that those were too new to be affected.
  18. Why bother buying all that stuff - as a western leaning democracy with hardly any military knowledge on western-style hardware, I'd try to get Uncle Sam in (if he isn't already - remeber, I've got oil!) and then slowly build up a joint force which can carry out all the necessary missions. And with all the dough in my pockets, I'd try to build up some industry of my own and participate in joint verntures to acquire military knowledge and technology.
  19. As a complete newbie to airbrushes, my more knowledgable friends have recommended this, a Herder & Steenbeck Ultra. Couldn't find it on amazon.co.uk, but I venture it's safe to say that UK retailers sell them.
