thats what id heard but wants offical, saying that ive asked the revell rep for some review samples so we shall see

It's true. These are the Moebius kits - just reboxed by Revell. Great news for Europeans.

Posted

Yes the eye watering prices of Moebius over here has kept them very much look but don't touch. If they are as keenly priced as Revell's other releases of late it would be excellent to have a Viper on the shelf.

The high prices are due to the sole distributor Amerang's mark up policy which seems to entail doubling the dollar retail price of the kits then adding VAT.

Given that Amerang also own Modelzone then the result is vastly inflated prices and poorer sales for Moebius in the UK market. The same situation goes for Pegasus kits.

All my US friends are astonished by what we have to pay here and I find it far cheaper to order direct from the states.

Hopefully the deal with Revell might restore some sanity.

Great news!! Unless you have them already like me?

Saying that, my sis is part based in NY, so my Galactica and first Viper were purchased there. Second Viper bought last year though Model Zone, so full uk retail.

Preordered two viper mk7's with photoetch from Cultmantv thinking clever old me would save lots of beer tokens direct from the US, then got slapped with a UK customs tax.

Will certainly be buying a Revell BSG or two, and hopefully Moebius can give us all a nice 1/32 Raptor.

Cheers all and thanks for the heads up.

Looking forward to seeing the Revell re-pop of the Mk.II Viper, I wonder if the decals will be printed by Cartograph?

Revell may also re-pop the Pegasus in due course, although it may be a while as Moebius have not released it themselves yet.

Question is, will the Mark II have the Resin pilot in its Revell re-release?

Also, it would be nice to see what the Galactica goes for as I felt it was just too expensive.

It would be nice, but unlikely to see the Moonbus also rereleased.

I know what is meant about Amerang. My local model shop which is a small scale place tried to open an account with them. They misquoted his order billing him about double the price he had been quoted. He sent everything back and closed the account. It also seemed that Amerang was notorious for having a lush catalogue with a lot of nice items but if you asked for them a lot weren't available.

I would not be surprised if the resin pilot is not included, but if the decals are printed by cartograph, as

is usual with Revell, I would be happy with the trade off.

As to the price, each of the kits is listed @ €22.99 as per http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=234923248 ,

not too bad compared to getting them in direct from the states :speak_cool:

The Battlestar Galactica models from Revell are not far from being released and are all available to pre-order through our online store, the the Revell Spacecraft section.

http://www.wonderlandmodels.com/models/plastic-models/revell/apollo-spacecraft-kits/

All three sets are priced at £19.99 rrp, including the Galactica itself! As with all Revell kits we are offering them through our online shop with a 10% discount, bringing them down to just £17.99 each.

No resin pilot, its a decent trade as the injection moulded one with the Mark VII was good anyway.

I'd really like to see a Raptor as the potential for different fits are decent.

My guess is that these will be complete Moebius kits in a Revell box. The kit is shipped, bagged, to Revell without the box, so we can safely assume that the decals will be the Moebius decals - not reprinted by Cartograph. You can also expect to have the resin pilot unless China has started doing this in styrene. And please get this straight - it's not a repop.

I don't know. I might expect at least new decals since Revell does enough business with them that it would keep the prices down. Even on straight reboxes from other companies, be it Hasegawa, Zvezda or other, the decal sheet has ALWAYS been a Revell supplied item with the new copyright on it (even if the artwork otherwise might be identical). The instruction sheet will likely be different as well as RoG prints something a bit more multi-language and crytic on normal paper as opposed to the glossy kind. I agree the resin pilot likely will remain, although it would not surprise me if it wasn't in there.

The Mk 7 injection molded pilot is good... for a man. I saw one built up with a female pilot chest and it looked a bit chunky, like a big burley ex-Soviet track athlete who could kill somebody with a hug. ;)

I've heard the II at least is on shop shelves. Anyone seen a review yet?

On balance, I think I prefer the Cylon designs - much meaner & nastier looking! What's REALLY missing of course are the Cylon Centurions ! The revamped Centurion is a particularly vicious looking thing. Were there ever any kits of other Battlestar designs? ( eg Valkyrie, Pegasus)?

I noticed the Moebius Cylon Raider (1/32) & 1/6 Cylon Centurion on ebay right now at £28.99 & £36.99 respectively. If Revell prices are indicative, they'll compare very favourably (assuming they also reissue these as well)?

I have the kits in for review, at the mo. Keep an eye on the Sci-Fi review section. ;)

According to Culttvman, the next kit out after the Pegasus will indeed be a 1/32nd Raptor!. Also if you have seen any of the upcoming 'Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome' you will need another Galactica kit so you can fill in all the ribbing detail with full panels as the big G is in it's complete form on there

With my LHS discount I got the Galactica for £15!! Cracking kit with I believe expanded Cartograph decals (including the areas for the landing pods to retract into) Also includes decal museum windows but to be honest these don't really work. Of course I had to go for the armour decals and the etched name plates but in a Revell box much more affordable. May go for the Viper VII. mk II is too similar to the original for my liking and I have all of those kits.

I picked up all three of these in the ModelZone 3 for 2 sale. I can confirm that the Viper II still has the resin pilot and that the decals appear to be new. They're all marked 'Revell GmbH & Co. KG. A subsidiary of Hobbico Inc. Printed in Italy.' and have a 2012 copyright.
