Yes, for my sins, I am indeed the Sec at Wakefield. Many thanks for the heads up on the reference pictures. Still not easy to find though. The other thing I forgot to mention is the instructions are a confusing mess and a lot of guesswork is involved. I'll hopefully get some pictures taken and posted this weekend of the progress so far.

I'll get some pictures done as soon as I can, but some may need to go in the chamber of horrors section lol. What I am really short of is good, close-up reference pictures of the rocket when it is fully assembled, can any of you out there possibly direct me to some suitable sources? Quick update on the Mach 2 Soyuz. It is as bad as the reviews say. The finish on the plastic is appalling and its already turned into Quite a filler monster.

I've just started working on the Mach 2 Soyuz R7 kit, havent tried any test fitting as yet but I do have to say that the plastic it is made from is definately a bit on the rough side and will need a good sanding and cleanup first, as there is a lot of flash around where the parts join together.

Great piece of work there. Ive got one to finish but got slightly sidetracked by a scratchbuild.

I got hold of the xtracolour enamel version. Given the issues I had with it, I ended up mixing my own simply by adding white to a medium grey acrylic and comparing it to the tin lid till it looked about right.

If you want to see TFA, just watch the original Star Wars.

You could give Gorilla glue a try as well. Similar drying time to epoxy so more time than with superglue for parts positioning. Word to the wise though, use it sparingly as It does expand slightly when drying. Strong as anything though.

I prefer to mix my own as I like drying times of less than 7 days

I chopped off about 3mm off the landing legs and re-shaped what was left to fit into the pads, looks like a more realistic pose now

Check out the new Tamiya Curvy masking tape, I tried it on a recent build and found it very good, and very easy to use.

Hi Nigel, I painted it with all the parts assembled and masked them as I went along. I then fitted one of the available roving light kits. It looks very effective and really brings the model alive

Ive always found Mr Muscle Oven Cleaner works a treat on acrylic paint and doesnt harm the plastic

When I did mine, I painted the internal parts in the gunmetal, then I masked them up through the holes in the outer part. It took a while and a bit of fettling to get the masking to sit on the inside. I then sprayed it gloss black and applied an alclad finish over the top of it. Hope this helps

Latest word from the States is that it could be after Christmas. Still, a kit that is this good is definately worth the wait.

Fairy Power Spray won't touch the Halfords acryllics in my experience, but Mr Muscle oven Cleaner will. The real trick I have found is you can only spray enamel paints onto acrylics. Do it the other way and the paint reacts.

I've built several airliners in the past and have always had excellent results using the Halfords rattle cans. I can only echo what's been said here about pre-warming the can in water before using. I would highly recommend their Appliance White as I have never seen it go yellow, as so many dedicated model paints have.

I did a fully lit one a few years ago, Only major filling I found was the joint between the the hull halves
