Having just discovered an opened but unstarted Spitfire Starter Set I would like to register my interest. The kit theoretically belongs to The Boy who "won" it in the Make and Take at Telford last year. As he has already bult this kit at least twice before I don't think he will mind.

Just noticed when looking at the 190 that I need to mix some of the colours to make 2 of them!!!

Just Found this group build its a fantastic idea. My 8 year old Son and I are going to join. I'm going to build the northrop f-5e tiger II always had a soft spot for these planes and my sons decided on the the AW Sea hawk. This will give some fun during the rainy days of the school holiday's.

Devilfish the 190 was the first kit my son attempted. Its a wonderful little kit to build the paint mixing was easy and there's plenty of paint in the kit even after my son spilt most of the dark grey. The mottling was easy to achive. When you've painted the the model and dont need the brush anymore cut the bristles back to about a 1/3 and using a drybrush stippling technique you get a good almost airbrushed spots. Can post a pic for you if thats allowed here.

Can't wait to start building the wifes not happy as it has to be done on the kitchen table instead of my workshop just like the old days when i was 8 year old kid fansinated with aeroplanes. My first kit was a airfix hawker Typhoon does anybody else remember their first. Mine was a glue fingers and paint everywhere mess but I loved it and been modelling ever since except for a 10 year break when i discovered girls modellings deff cheaper lol. If i can find a typhoon starter kit i might enter that for a bit of fun.

Glen

ps does it have to be gear up or down or is the choice ours?

As one of the lurkers who has been tempted to finally join Britmodeller can I throw my hat into the ring with the SeaHawk, providing Citylink deliver it tomorrow!

I would like to participate in this event. This can be the kit I shall build this year - and I intend to do it on Sunday afternoon with Monday morning as a reserve day. I shall have a cup of tea whilst I do it.

Sitting on my desk as I type (behind the cat), is a P-47D Starter Set. I selected this model as it says on the box that the P-47D was used to great effect by the RAF's South East Asia Command over the jungles of Burma. I am therefore very much hoping to find some SEAC transfers inside the box (I suspect I might be disappointed - particularly as the paints included in the set do not immediatley shout SEAC).

Al

I've just noticed, the P-47D was behind the cat - not me typing.

Am home from work.

Haven't gotta go back 'til Tuesday, :yahoo: so looking forward to some good, honest, old school modelling.

Unfortunately, what I don't have is the bloody kit I won off e-bay last week. Booooooo!

Might have a little trip up Toys R us, see what i can grab.

Just got back from Hobbycraft with my kits. A 1/72 Red Arrows Gnat and a 1/72 Spit Mk1. I'll also try and spring a 1/24 Peugeot 206 or a Pug 307 rally car Gift Set (if I can find either of them in the stash  )

Hi Guys,

I would like to join in with the new P-47 starter set kit, and my daughter Izzy (7) would like to join in with a gazelle (bought today in great anticipation). I hope you dont mind her joining in too, although this is my first GB on Britmodeller, I have done a few on ARC, and she nearly always joins me on them. Izzy just wants to do a helicopter, as her last build was a tomcat and she fancies something different. I chose the thunderbolt as I have never built a WWII kit before (except for a few 1/144 ones), and fancied something different.

I am really looking forward to this one, like most people on here, I think its a great idea.

Cheers

Oh yes! What a great idea! I'm in with a F-5 E Tiger II I've just picked up from the local toy shop. I thought that as it comes with 6 paints, I stand a fighting chance of it looking ok when done (apart from inevitable glossy decals of course!). Still, it's all part of the fun. Hope to do it in an afternoon too, just like the old days.....

Cheers

Welcome, welcome, welcome to you all. I've added you to the growing list.

Smiffy I had you down for a F-14 Tomcat.... did I get that wrong?

The hour of commencement is fast approaching so if you would all like to make your way to the current build area...

Hi guys and girls,

I'd like to join with the Spitfire MkIXc/XVIe kit in 48 scale. I will do it as a clipped wing version. Can I confirm that we are allowed to use masking tape for getting nice edges? This will take me back. No stress, no strain, just nice and easy. Look forward to it.

Cheers,

Kev C.

No, that is correct.

I ordered the Tomcat from e-bay, then afterwards I thought I'd better check to see if it was eligible.

That's when I posted the pic (using the e-bay shot).

It just ain't turned up yet. :fraidnot:

That's a bit of a pest ain't it? So plan B with a series 1 perhaps?

I think I'm just gonna wait for the Tomcat to arrive.

Gonna go diving into the stash later and find something to knock together for me-self this weekend. :)

For everyone starting today, have fun!
