Notty
Always loved this brute, despite it apparently being a terrible aeroplane to me it always looked like a hotrod! The kit is nice, goes together well and I only needed a teeny bit of filler on the roots. Contains some PE mainly for the dive brakes/flaps and it's a shame there's no flaps-down option, as I'm not convinced about the slats being out with the flaps retracted but that's the only way the kit has them. I also used the Eduard set for the inside and my first go using Montex masks. Painted with Vallejo model air. Hope you like it. jean
Just like you, I find this plane a beautiful and endearing brute, And your model is splendid! Great painting, subtle weathering, etc. Congrats JR

polo1112
I also like the Helldiver very much, it has a very particular and very aggressive look. I had just a perhaps stupid question: has this Monogram-Pro-Modeller anything to do with the old Monogram kit from the sixties (which I have in my stash since a lot of years and only waiting to be built), or is it a more "modern" variant? Thanks in advance and congratulations for your beautiful and very realistic model. Have a good night. Polo.

spruecutter
Very nice - I wish Revell would re-release the kit as it now goes for silly money on Ebay. The Promodeller version, not the 1960s version. Regards Richard C

Hi Polo, I'm pretty sure it's quite a recent kit though I can't be sure as I bought it from an online shop specialising in rare and 2nd hand kits. The engineering of the kit lends itself to a more modern tooling but then again the old monogram molds werent too shabby in the 80's but I don't know about the 60's! Hope that helps. andy
BushBrit66
This kit is 96 and has been released a few times since. There was a poor 50s kit previously from Monogram The brass is for dive brakes not flaps so the configuration with them closed and slats out is correct. I believe it is in the current US Revell/Monogram catalogue
batcode
looks great, very nice work....got admit I do like some the old pro-modeller kits and have a few in the stash but for there age they have some very nice detail and go tighter well,

jeaton01
Very nice looking model, OK, I'll be the odd one out, I think this is one ugly airplane! I hear the odd tail is because it had to fit the standard US carrier elevators so they had to keep the overall length shorter than optimum. That made for oversized tail surfaces. Bad esthetics! Boo! I believe it is in the current US Revell/Monogram catalogue The lower dive brake surface acted as landing and presumably takeoff flap. Though I can't find anything definitive leading edge slats were often either automatically deployed with airspeed or acted with the flap controls, thus I feel it looks a bit artificial but feel free to correct me! BerndM
Lovely build of maybe the most handsome looking USN bomber from WWII.
WildeSau75
Lovely build of this "beast". You nailed the color scheme which is not easy to get right. Cheers, Michael
