You used to ride on a chrome horse - Eduard 1/48 FM-2 Wildcat.

Another load of fiddly bits painted and stuck together for the majority of the wheel bay.

Insert placed in the fuselage and given a dash of Sky.

Finally a dry fit to check stuff.

I still need to do a couple of bits of painting in the fuselage and give that a bit of a wash then I can get her buttoned up.

That's a job for tomorrow.

Thanks for looking,

Cheers,

Alistair

The Wildcat u/c is a cat's (!) cradle, but this is looking superb in its interior grey. Nice!

Cheers,

Mark

Thanks Mark,

Thankfully the rest of it can be popped in later in the build.

Alistair

Alistair,

Lovely work. Take care when locating the main undercarriage - its location is a little vague,

Nice fiddly work Alistair,  it will look great when viewed through the UC Bay holes.

Thanks Chris,

It looks like a spiders web in there.

I'm late to the party again, and at the rate Alistair is progressing I'm lucky not to have missed it completely!

Looking great.

About 50 years, or more, ago I picked up an ex-LCC Libraries copy of "Wings on my Sleeve" at a jumble sale and I can't see a Wildcat/Martlet without thinking of Eric "Winkle" Brown's descriptions of flying them from HMS Audacity. Awe inspiring stuff, both the book and the build!

Thanks very much,

It'll all slow down for a bit as i'm back at work for 4 earlies starting tomorrow.

Wings on my Sleeve is a fantastic read isn't it.

Alistair,

Lovely work on your Wildcat. Love the way the office is turning out.

Not sure about the MkVI but on the MkV there was a fuel tank under the pilot seat that stops you from seeing through the lower fuselage windows and out the other side.  In fact I’m not even sure the MkVI had the windows but just in case - check it out..

Nice and steady work Alistair.

The U/C is a fiddly so and so, try doing it on 1/72.

But it looks so good once done.

Simon.

Thanks Simon,

I will admit it's not as fiddly as this one in 1/72 I did a few years ago.

Belay that - no windows in 5he MkVI…

Thanks so much,

I did panic a tad on reading the first post as there were definitely no windows in the destructions. :D

I did a little cutting and painting on the engine parts earlier today.

And then the heavens opened so there was nothing for it but glue.

The recent Eduard´s Wildcats have sent any other Wildcat straight to the Pile of Forgotten Kits, I am afraid.

Excellent build, sir

Thanks very much.

Nice progress, it all looks very nice indeed.

Does it really have a choice of four different windscreens?

Regards,

Adrian

Thanks Adrian,

There is only one windscreen called out in the instructions.

The others are for different versions.

Welcome aboard CC.

I've managed to find some time to do a little on this.

The windscreen was masked up and glued on and then sprayed with interior green, which was then used to check the seams.

Still needs a little work on the nose.

I dirtied up the engine a little as well.

The dreaded seams appear like magic (or the shopkeeper in Mr Benn)

Thanks Simon.

Nothing major to deal with.
