There is a Heller advert in February's Airfix Modelworld saying it is a new kit with 5 sets of markings. Has Revell returned their old mold? It says 128 parts.

I'm certain it's the old Heller/Airfix release my box claims 126 parts. Engraved panel lines, a pretty comprehensive stores selection, and generally thought to be better than the KH attempt. It can hold it's own with a bit of polishing but it's a very nice kit. I'm glad it's back as I'm down to my last pair of the originals.

I’ve just received this kit today as I’ve built a couple in the past and enjoyed them.

However the decals with it are absolutely terrible. The blue shade for the colourful drop tanks pictured on the box is very washed out, not really blue at all. The raf roundels are a very odd colour, and although markings for the missiles and bombs are shown on the instructions, they don’t exist on the actual sheet.

They’ve listed this as five marking options, but to be honest I don’t think they’re really usable, not if you want an accurately marked Jag..

I know heller aren’t known for amazing decals, but they’re usually better than this..

Anyway, sorry to be negative, but I thought I’d let you all know.

cheers

It’s tragic that, after all this time, Heller still haven’t figured out how to do decent decals. They seem to treat decals as an afterthought when they can absolutely make or break a model.

Probably worth waiting for Airfix's surprise announcement this year... (fingers crossed)

You mean their 1/24th scale TSR2?

Is this a new airfix jag ? I hope so.

Just going back to my previous post..I contacted the seller, and she checked the kits she has in stock, and it turns out none of them has the weapon decals. Seems that heller have made a boo boo for them all, not just mine. Anyway, she said she would contact heller to see whats going on.

Lets hope they sort it.

cheers all

Well, as a massive fan of Colishall Jaguars, Im disappointed that before Id even looked at the plastic I noticed that version A says its a 42 Sqn when its quite clear that its a 54 Sqn. While not a massive error, it begins to make you wonder if there are errors elsewhere. Come on Heller, a 5 second google search on "XZ112" will tell you the correct sqn. If you cant put in 5 seconds research, why should I spend my money and put in hours of work building it?

Sorry, was that a dull post? Im not usually a stickler for 100% accuracy, Im not fussed by the "Exact" shade of grey, and Im not bothered that it has 1,245 rivets when it should have 1,246, but basic info like that?
