Pappy
Not just black, wasn't it also a 'crinkle' finnish ( but still black) as well? Pappy Edited May 27 by Pappy

Pappy Some parts but not all, remember, a lot of parts used would be what we now refer to as Government Furnished Equipment (GFE), it would come from all over the RAF supply system, it would be finished to the relevant spec for that part. The spec would say matt black but one manufacturers matt black may not be as matt black as another's (it will still be black though).

Vulcanicity
Having read carefully through this thread and thought about Vampire interiors a fair bit, I am going to tentatively suggest canary yellow (make sure to get the right spec pink for the Bakelite seat though).
