Looking forward to seeing some decals, although I know it's a way to go yet. Keep up the great work. Thanks very much. It's moving forward slowly. I've got a lot of rescribing to do today but I'm hopeful of at least the Sky going on. Cheers, Alistair
AliGauld
Finally we have some colour about the place. 1st coat of Colourcoats Sky Type S sloshed about the place. It was a tad overthinned and will require a second coat but looks better. Just as well it needs a second coat as I've missed a couple of bits. Thanks for looking, Cheers, Alistair
ColinChipmunkfan
Wow Alistair, you are racing through this build. I have been following the build with interest, the model is coming on really well. Re your 1948 show reference. Many years back I was in the duty free on a cross channel ferry unable to decide what to buy when the steward recommended a particular vodka with the words " this is the Vodka that killed Marty Feldman". Never forgot that. Colin

ColinChipmunkfan
I agree about the single malts Alistair- my favourite at the moment is Glenrothes Directors Cut- creamy caramel out of a sherry cask, mmm. Colin

The Skyraider will arrive in a couple of days. Quick question for you. Which blue would you suggest. Non-Specular Sea Blue or Semi-Gloss Blue? These are the ColourCoats that I have in the paint drawer. Cheers, Alistair

Cheers, Alistair Excellent , I used Colourcoats ACUS 34, Glossy Sea Blue I have not seen the others you mentioned, but looking on the Sovereign Hobbies site the Non Specular looked too light but ghe other one didn't look too bad and isn't far off. You could test it and darken it a bit if needed ??? Chris

I'll stick an order in to Sovereign for some as I'm needing some other paint as well. Cheers, Alistair
AliGauld
I finished the Night Shift this morning and after a kip and some domestic chores I started to mask up for the Extra Dark Sea Grey. 2 hours later after what was one of the trickiest masking jobs I've attempted so far some ColourCoats was flung about. There are a couple of minor touch ups required. Once this has dried I'll get them done and then mask up for the black bits. In other news and entirely due to the tempting of one @bigbadbadge of this parish, this arrived this morning. With the package was this as well. Yesterday these arrived thanks to the sterling service, yet again, from Mr. and Mrs. Duff Thanks for looking, Cheers, Alistair

Spookytooth
Hi Alistair, I have caught this build towards the tail end, and have to admit that she is looking good. Two light coats are better than one I find, which ever medium you use. Looking forward to seeing her finished. Simon.

AliGauld
Today was masking, paint, more masking and more paint. But after it all we have this. Just Nato black used for all the bits. Closer to a clear coat and sticker time I hope. I still need to work out if I'll need to glue some of the smaller fiddly bits on before that but that is a problem for future me. I'll think about that after my Rules Exam on Tuesday. Thanks for looking, Cheers, Alistair

Nato Black certainly is one of my more used colours and it can cover a multitude of sins. Thanks, Alistair
Dr. Quack
I've been out of contact for a bit so I'm just starting to catch up on things - nice progress Alistair. The demarcation line on the fuselage can be deceptively tricky, especially the curve at the rear. Nicely done! Q

Q Thanks Q, I've been using Tamiya Curvy Tape on a couple of things recently and it really helped on this and when burnished down it works. Lord Riot
Looking great! Very neat painting too, excellent. I’m going to look for those Posca pens you mentioned, certainly better than trying to paint cockpits with a brush!

AliGauld
Now that future me has got the Rules Exam out of the way I can concentrate on more important stuff. We have a shiny, happy Gannet. Stickers tomorrow. As I had the airbrush out some other bits got a coat of paint. Thanks for looking, Cheers, Alistair
