LDSModeller
Hi All, So, I know the P40 and F4U Corsair won't take too long to complete (fingers crossed), and I have been thinking of what I could do next? I have a rather old "Panda" Catalina Kit, that might get built, and then I thought of another kit that I have started (that still falls in the <25% done), and being so big and can be built pretty much OOB. The only differences are the Markings being Montex masks. The kit Box Contents Markings - Montex Masks The Actual Aircraft Emblem I plan to build her in (Image RNZAF Official -used for Illustration Purposes only) One of my favorite reads the Book written by Wally Ingham, who served on 30 SU with the TBF's Last, but not least some real reference material from MOTAT Kit Production thus far Hope you will enjoy. Thanks for looking in Regards Alan
modelling minion
Now this is a very interesting project Alan. I like the Avenger a lot and to see one in wartime RNZAF markings will be excellent as it is one I've wanted to do myself for a while (currently contemplating using the Hobby Boss kit for just this scheme, but not for this GB). The fact that you are tackling the 1/32 Trumpeter beast makes it even more interesting as there is great scope for additional work and detailing to be added. Really looking forward to seeing this in progress. Craig.
Hewy
Ths will be a big old bird built up, I've often thought of pulling the trigger and buying this one myself, I'm interested
Greg Law
This is great. We really are covering the RNZAF and RAAF well here. This will be a very interesting build to watch. I love the artwork for this one. Edited September 22, 2018 by Greg Law
mackem01
WOW............this is going to be a monster. That said I think it's worth it for the nose art alone. Looking forward to seeing this complete. Good luck.
trickyrich
WOW, a go large or go home build for sure!!! Welcome aboard with a huge beast, a 1/48th Avenger is big, this is a monster, but it's an Avenger so awesomeness is doubled! There use to be one of these parked in a small town on the way to Wellington (can't remember the name of the town, we were living in Fielding then)), we use to stop there every time, you could climd it her, gosh it was fun! Are you going to fold the wings on her? this will be one to pull up a chair for , good luck with her, and I look forward to seeing her in the gallery. LDSModeller
Hi All Thank you all for your comments - much appreciated On 9/23/2018 at 11:00 AM, trickyrich said: Are you going to fold the wings on her? Hi Rich, Haven't decided as yet - The one at MOTAT has folded wings and I have a photo of the wing tip section - the kit has the parts (sans wire link). A little bit of progress - The kit (unlike the Trumpeter TBM -3 kit) does not have an Engine Dishpan, so I needed to build one I fashioned a master out of balsa What it looks like (hopefully), when attached to the assembly, when I form one out of styrene So I thermo formed (as opposed to vacuformed (yes I have two machines)), and this is what it looked like after cutting and fitting - This cutting out and fitting caused me no end of misery trying to align it correctly From the side With the engine (not yet cemented) From the side Hope you enjoy (this very small update) Regards Alan
trickyrich
some nice moulding work there, that sort of stuff is so time consuming I know, but it's worth it.

JOCKNEY
Hi Alan Thanks very much for sending me the link to this build. Goodness me, this build is epic. Hats off to you for the level of detail you are achieving I only hope you don't make the people restoring the real one in your photos feel inadequate ! I hope people don't mind if I sneak into a spare seat to follow the rest of this build. cheers Pat
