Eastern Express has released the DC-10-30! Wonder of it could be modified using an EE MD-11, sanding and remolding the tail section, to make a DC-10-40?? Anyone willing to try??? 1/144Here are sprue pics.....

This is Bandai's little 1/144 Striker, from the U-Wing/TIE box set. It's designed along the same lines as their Vehicle Model series, with only a few parts and no clear moulding for the canopy, but it's still highly detailed, being essentially a scaled-down version of the 72nd kit. I finished this one in a scheme heavily influenced by the red TIE Interceptors used by the Royal Guard in various EU comics. Paint was my usual steel-over-black recipe for the panels, while the red was Gunze red over Gunze russet. Thanks for looking Andy

I have continued working on it over the last few days and completed it earlier today. Hi all, I thought it was time I tried some of these Bandai Star Wars kits I hear all the kids are going mad for... I'm not sure I'll have much to add to Andy and Adam's efforts, but I'd like to move some of the Star Wars-ey plastic from my stash to the cabinet where I can see it I started by putting the little ISD together, which was a pleasant experience. There are some fiddly seams in the superstructure and I'm not delighted with the fit of the bridge tower, but with some clothes pins and thin glue it seems to have mostly closed up. I managed to get glue to squeeze out of most of the superstructure joins so I could pare it down and sand it, but I haven't tried as hard with the joins on the vertical surfaces. I'm trying to decide whether to rip off Andy's "aztec" panelled finish or not - the movie ships are quite flat looking, after all. If I do try the panels, I might keep them to the recesses rather than the raised stuff, really not sure yet. Perhaps more interestingly, I've built up the contents of the 1/144 U-Wing box. The U-wing itself is in a variety of bits as I need to paint the interior, but the TIE Striker and Occupier tanks can be pretty much fully assembled before paint: Fit on both is the usual mix of perfection and not-quite-perfection - you can see some seams where the end-caps of the TIE Striker cabin attach, for example. I thought about running some CA into them, but I'm wary of cracking the plastic or indeed making a mess of what's currently a very sharp line. The same line appears on the 1/72 so presumably it's a legit panel line? The tanks fit pretty well and the seams are such that you *could* fill them all but maybe don't have to? And the U-Wing seems great from what I can see. There's a join right through the radiator fins at the back, so I opted to assemble these around the rear plates first and clean up the join. That means I'll need to make around it to paint the rest. I'd hoped that I could cut away enough of the pins that I could join the pieces and slide them into place, but some of the interlocking stuff is visible so I gave up. I'll put some more pictures up when it's in primer, as well as finish that Zoid Cheers, Will

This was a quick weekend build of Bandai's box scale (1/144) TIE twin pack. The kit turned up on Friday, and I built them up that evening, adding a little battle damage to one of the standard TIE's solar panels. The X1 was a straight OOB build. They were painted yesterday (Saturday), then weathered today. Nothing fancy with the painting/weathering. Just base coats over a black primer, detail painting, then a few pin washes and some dry brushing over the damaged areas on the panel. This is how they looked on Friday night And then fully finished tonight The obligatory scale comparison shots with paint pot and, of course, Nigel. The Gunze barley grey in the photo was used for the main base coat on both TIEs Thanks for looking

For my first build in the GB, I will be building the other EA-6B Prowler from the two boxing set that @nimrod54 kindly sent me, after completing his in the Grumman GB. Shouldnt take too long to build, there’s only 2 stages in the instructions Just have a couple of build to complete in the Trainers GB before I get cracking.

This is the very nice Revell kit of the Concorde,that has been around for ages now and it still is available. I built already one and enjoyed it very much. When I came across this decal set from 26,I decided to buy another kit and have a go. British Airways and Singapore Airlines co-operated on the London-Bahrain-Singapore route and thus one of BAs Concordes wore that hybrid scheme. As only BA and Air France operated the Concorde,this scheme is a nice change and addition for my supersonic collection Enjoy And with "Something else"...the famous Air France Pepsi Concorde

I have had this in the stash for a few months now...I think I picked it up as a special from Hannants. Love the Mig-21 but don’t usually build at this scale. In fact it will be only my second 1/144 build ever. The kit: Its a dual combo but I will probably only build one model in this WIP. Not sure which colour scheme I will go for but probably one of the NMF. As always all comments welcome. Cheers Dave

Hollo to everybody. Lets talk about Falklands 1982... Dear friends, I demonstrate my work which I finished in the 2018th “Humphrey” is one of the most famous object of the Falklands Conflict and was the helicopter stationed aboard the destroyer HMS Antrim. Antrim was one of several ships sent to retake the Islands of South Georgia, as part of Operation Paraquet. The Wessex HAS.3 is recognizable by its “thimble” radome behind the rotor head. Only two HAS.3s were deployed to the Falklands, on HMS Antrim and HMS Glamorgan. This work shows my skills and ability to make further improvement as far as possible for the 1/144. For the “Mark I” kit detailing, I used more than 50 small parts and some items of a handmade material. The main resource-intensive work at the next objects: detailed cockpit with PEP, scratch-build nose E/E compartment with components and an opened hatch, the sonar operator compartment with interior and opened sliding door, the tail beam and main air blades are located in its stowed position. Looking through some old aircraft magazines recently, I came across an article in the May 1977 edition of Aircraft Illustrated about the introduction of the McDonnell Douglas DC-10 30 with British Caledonian. The article stated that BCAL had also evaluated the Boeing 747SP, and the proposed long range Lockheed L-1011 500, before eventually settling on the DC-10. The 747SP was ruled of on cost, and the fact that if provided too much capacity for the airline at the time, however the TriStar 500 closely matched BCAL's route requirements and was suitable from both a performance and economic view point. At the time of the evaluation the production of the -500 had not been given the the official go-ahead by Lockheed and as an interim BCAL was offered the TriStar 100, until the new higher performance variant became available, which in turn swung the deal in favour of the DC-10. British Airways became the official launch customer for the TriStar 500 in August 1976, and as they say the rest is history. This got me thinking though - 'what if' BCAL had gone with Lockheed's offering and subsequently became the joint launch customer with B.A.?!? My model depicts what I imagine their second TriStar 'Bravo Mike' might have looked like when delivered to the airline in the spring of 79. Now onto the model - I'll keep this brief. A under engineered, poorly executed, and horrendously over priced excuse of a model. Although I am quite pleased with the end result, it fought me every step of the way. The low point being the unequal lengths of the rear fuselage halves resulting in canyon sized gaps that had to be filled with numerous applications of epoxy resin and much sanding. Try as I might I couldn't completely eliminate the slight step where the tail section meets the main body. The tail and cheatline colours were hand painted with Revell acrylics, with the BCAL titling, golden lions, a/c reg and names taken from the 26decals early BCAL DC-10 scheme sheet.I also used the Nazca decals L-1011 detail sheet , with fuselage and flight deck windows, and some aluminium trim from Authentic decals. I have had this building kicking about for ages so I thought I would build it up with in intension of adding a ground type MS in the fashion of The 08th MS team. So the building looked a bit like a shop so I have made a few changes added generator on the roof and some long and short range comms.

Grumman EA-6B Prowler, Bu. No. 163046 USS Dwight D Eisenhower CAG, VAQ-140 Patriots, Dragon 1/144 I failed to meet the Grumman GB deadline with this one when it finished a couple of weeks ago, but I finally wrapped it up yesterday by adding the scratched ram air turbines for the AN/ALQ 99 pods, which are not included in the kit, along with a couple of the missing aerials. After finishing the Nieuport I said I would do something other than a ww1 subject. I must truly be stuck on ww1 because I've just started two more. I Fancied the all-white craft of Herman Goering but also really wanted to try some of the lozenge camo. I couldn't decide so I thought why not build two at the same. Not sure which one to do along side Goering's but I can choose that later. First job: The upper wings had considerably too much chord, about 1.5mm which is a huge amount in this scale. So I sanded this off to correct dimensions. Also the wings have recessed rib lines which I of course replaced with stretched sprue, yep every single rib! Once sanded to shape it should look great.

I haven't built a Gundam in what seems like ages so I thought I would have a go at the very bling RG Strike Freedom. This is my 3rd RG kit and they always amaze me with the detail and engineering that goes into them. I started this on of with building the gold frame because it must be painted a better gold. So as a start I have brushed on some of the AK wax stuff onto the three gold runners (with no priming) to see who it looks and sticks. The hope is it works and will give a nice pale gold that I can brush onto the frame and not stick together all the moving parts. If the AK wax doesn't work I will try the GW gold paint. I have a few projects on the go at the moment so not sure how long this is going to take to build.

Hello all. I have a number of Grumman products in the stash and had originally decided to enter this GB with a 1/72 Hasegawa F-14 in Iranian colours. However, being a bit thick, I sold that kit a few months ago. It was replaced in a bit of a hurry by Revell's 1/144 A model in the VX-4 Black Bunny boxing, which I will build here as a line bird in classic grey and white. The black plastic will save me a coat of paint for black basing... In addition, I'll be making an attempt at the D 'Super Tomcat' version of the kit, probably the aircraft with the low viz shark mouth on it. A story attaches to this - I was looking after a friend's model shop earlier in the week and things were quiet. Idle hands in a hobby shop... Hmm... There was a D on the shelf, and all the tools I could need; what else could be the result? Of course, as soon as I clipped the first bits off the sprue and started fitting them together the door opened and it got busy, but I now own another small Tomcat, (yes, I paid for it) so I'll build both of them here. No photos yet (haven't added them to my Flickr account), but I'll get them up and on show ASAP. Being simple kits I should be able to complete them in the allotted time...
