    Thanks, Jamie. I wasn't intending to be critical; far from it. I was simply relating my experience since the fire. To have something like that happen must be devastating, to have it happen a second time (as I believe is the case with Paul) must be even more so. In his case, the insurance industry took a huge hit, and I've no doubt it's taking more than a long time to get claims processed. I could quite understand if he decided that it's no longer worth the candle, and just walked away. That would disappoint many modellers (yours truly included) because he made such brilliant stuff, but in the end it's his call, and his alone.

    Plusmodel does an engine set - http://www.plusmodel.cz/karta_en.php?id=810. Well worth having, as the kit engines are not up to the mark. They also did a complete EC-121 kit based on the Heller C-121/L-1049 plastic, which had flaps and photoetch for the wheel wells and other bits and bobs, but it doesn't appear on their web site. Maybe a message to them would elicit more information? It is a shame about Fisher Models. Paul's stuff was great. I don't know whether or not he will ever be back - he said in the aftermath of the fire that he was planning to be, but since then there have been conflicting messages (notably, not from Paul, AFAIK) to the contrary. I know that the web site is presently not active.

    To play the devil's advocate for a moment - the Harvard's been done, in both 1:72 and 1:48 (OK, they're not perfect, but they're there) whereas the Chippie has never been done in 1:48 by anyone other than Aeroclub. I'd argue that makes the Chippie more of a possibility. Not to say that we don't need new, state-of-the-art kits of both aircraft in both scales, though!

    Your first task will be to get yourself a set of PlusModel engines to replace the kit items, which bear only a passing resemblance to what was fitted on the 1:1 scale item. There were a few other replacement engines around, notably by Paul Fisher, but the California fires a while back put him out of business and so far he hasn't bounced back. PlusModel also does some nice flaps and interior details for the wheel wells, all of which will enhance the Heller kit.

    VERY '60s! I'm amazed that it wasn't carried away by the tin worm years ago, though ... that was the fate of most Victors over here, even in the '60s.

    Italeri does (did?) a Manx Norton, 1:12 scale, I think; an ex-Pocher mould. Airfix did one, a BSA(?, may have been a Matchless), can't recall the scale, but not that easy to find nowadays, and of course MFH does a big Brough Superior and a Vincent Black Shadow, both superb kits but expensive!

    The decals are as good as the rest of the kit - and if you think that's damnation by faint praise, you're right! The Gosling is yet another kit long overdue for a new mould.

    The Plus Model upgrade kit for the EC121 is actually good value for money - as well as replacement cowls (the Heller ones are rubbish) you get detail sets for the very bare kit wheel bays.

    As I have noted elsewhere, it looks as though those of us waiting for an Avro 504 have a long wait on their hands. Sir Peter has a big say in what WNW produces, and from what the WNW people at Chattanooga were saying it doesn't float his boat at the moment.

    The Lancaster looks even better in person - it's a monster, though! And from the comments I heard, kit subjects are very much in the hands of Sir Peter. It also sounds like those of us who are hanging out for an Avro 504 are in for a long wait...

    Had a look at the one on display at Chattanooga yesterday. Very nice, but sadly Eduard has joined the ranks of those who engrave panel lines on wings that were filled. No biggie, but a pain to fix.

    Definitely no Australian ones; the RAAF didn't bring any out here (although I think 3RAAF operated one or two in North Africa).

    Sorry, you can't have one! GM stopped making real Holdens a couple of years ago (thanks, Tony ...) and the Malloo is a thing of history. There are still lots on the road here, but they're getting to be collectors' items.

    As indicated above, I'll look at the 1:48 version. I'm off to Murica for a month on Monday, and I've promised to do another job when I get back, but I should have a master ready by late October. I dragged out one of my 1:48 Airfix Canberras yesterday and noted that it needs the same mod., so it should be worth someone's while to do it in resin ...

    You could have a look on the Shapeways site - it's just possible (haven't checked, so can't say for sure) that someone has had one done in 3D printing.

    Thanks to you both - looks like I'm in for the full nausea ... I may look at setting up a master (in 1:48, since that will be where I'm working) but getting it produced is beyond my resources. I know that my usual source of supply has a long backlog of casting jobs with their usual caster, so I'll likely have to look elsewhere. I've got to sort out a 1:72 Catalina nacelle set first, though! John, the CA kit is better in that the mounting stubs on the fuselage do at least incorporate the dihedral. There's been absolutely no attempt to replicate the moving centre section, though.

    Dragging this one out of hibernation ... Did anything come of the proposal to do this conversion in resin, in either scale? I have a couple of CA Canberras to do (one as a 2RAAF Vietnam aircraft, the other as one of the white Woomera fleet) and, being the lazy bugger that I am, if I don't have to go through the complete nausea I'd be more than happy!
