  1. Disengage cloak! Looking forward to getting started on this. I made a few of the AMT Star Trek kits back in the 90s, but never this one, probably the most famous non-Starfleet ship design in the franchise. Star Trek III: Spock Resurrection was the first Trek film I watched (and rewatched 100s of times on VHS) and the ship, making its debut, was the star of the show for me back then. It would go on to appear in Star Trek IV: The One With the Whales, Star Trek V: What Does God Need With a Starship?, Star Trek VI: Hamlet in the Original Klingon and Generations, not to mention countless times in TNG and DS9. There's some fun trivia about the Bird of Prey here: Before battle commences I'll raise a goblet of blood wine to you all taking part. May your builds be glorious victories, or at least live an honourable death in Sto'Vo'Kor. Qapla’!
  2. Thanks, but the Indian Maritime version (land based anti-shipping role) is a different animal to the carrier prototype.
  3. Does anyone know if there has ever been an aftermarket conversion set to make the Indian maritime version, in any scale?
  4. You don't hang about do you? Another interesting project, gotta say the scratch built access platform looks really good
  5. Thanks for sharing the glue and brush technique. The sheet of metal and tracks were convincing enough for me to think they were a separate vignette! Brilliant work.
  6. Gotta say I'm really quite taken by the look of that I'm breaking out the snacks for this one!
  7. I seem to recall that 'curves' were part of reboot's appeal
  8. Crikey, I've just seen the dimensions on the box for 1/144 scale. No wonder it can be seen from Earth. Best of luck with it
  9. Wow, another kit I didn't know existed. From that last shot it looks like it could double up as a building from an alien cityscape too! Hope you find the time to get it built
  10. So is this old Galactica or new? It's a bit of a grey area for me. I keep meaning to try the new one, well, I say new . . . it ended 14 years ago.
  11. Corr, I didn't know such a thing existed... ...then I saw the price
  12. Hola amigos, I've made a bit of progress. The seam lines weren't as bad as I thought, and most of them are underneath. Wings on: Opted for the strakes on the belly as the Matadors didn't lug around the Aden cannons as often as their RAF cousins. Tail plane and stabiliser on: Nozzles and drop tanks (more seams 😒) Hopefully not long before I can hit it with some primer. Adios 🇪🇸
  13. I've developed something of a thing for Catalinas... About a month after getting the Academy kit, Hobby 2000 released two reboxings with some great schemes. I went for the European option, but can probably see me getting the Pacific one too. I also picked up Hobby 2000's Henschel Hs129 on a whim: It's an aircraft that I know the square root of zilch about, but I'm itching to do a winter whitewash scheme.
  14. It will be a pleasure to serve. As first officer I reserve the right to sit on chairs like so: ...And also lead a mutiny if the crew suspect you've been possessed by an alien intelligence that is putting the safety of the GB in danger
  15. Fantastic pics of a dissected Vampire. It'll be interesting to see how fettling goes
  16. That's coming on nicely @Marklo I love opening this thread and seeing that reference pic again.
  17. hmm, tricky. Depends on If you've got an airbrush I'd be tempted to try and tone down grass by lightly applying some really thin beige/pale yellows/browns. Certainly I think the strip of grass between the track ruts would be dirtier/muddier. Once you've got that bit looking right I'd replicate it on the outside of the ruts, but subtly feather it out so that the demarcation between mud and grass isn't so distinct. Perhaps more crucial is to consider the story of the diorama. If the Russian tank got taken out by a missile then a large patch of ground would have been scorched by the blast and debris, like in those pics posted earlier. Just a few thoughts!
  18. ooh, that's looking really nice. I like the work with the busted seat too. Cracking stuff 😎
  19. Quite mad. It looks like something out of Robot Wars. ACTIVATE!
  20. Revell make a 1/24 Trabant - you can't really get more of a terrible an iconic Soviet era car. One was recently made for Not My Comfort Zone GB here. It might be worth sifting through Zvezda's back catalogue. They make this in 1/35: https://www.scalemodelshop.co.uk/1-35-gaz-m1-soviet-car-zvezda-z3634-p20663/ though that's probably not the era you're after. They also make this, which I quite like the look of (mainly because it reminds me of a Comma/Dodge van): https://www.scalemodelshop.co.uk/zvezda-1-35-uaz-3909-p19812/
  21. Lovely stuff @Bill1974, some cracking images there Not far from where I live is RAF Spadeadam, an electronic warfare range. It has a collection of aircraft arranged on a makeshift airfield and are known locally as "The Migs", though they're mainly Mystères, plus an ex-East German Su-22 and a Hind: https://wagsite.co.uk/raf-spadeadam Some interesting footage here:
