Flux. I can't see if you are using flux, which will encourage the solder to flow in its melted form. Also as mentioned above the quality of the solder. In my old work we went to lead free solder and it didn't go down well. So they returned to leaded solder and the grumbles went away. As mentioned above, practice just like airbrushing. But get some flux..........

See I prefer the single seater in the grey & red stripe scheme. I never did think it carried the ripple scheme well. But the rest of the fleet suited it.

Minster of silly walks?

I think it's fake. Look at the outline of the F-14 when the explosion occurs and the Jet doesn't move at all. Also I just can't see how that would be a viable target for their requirements. Just my 2p worth.......

Now I've just had this on my current can and kit. Mircomeshed the plastic/Washed the kit/sprayed primer/Micromeshed again. Then left to dry after rinsing like PiL says above. Put a colour on and then put detacked Tamiya tape on for a straight line section. Applied the colour and removing the Tamiya tape it's pulled off the colour I've just sprayed and in some parts removed the first colour and primer. I've never had this before. All corrected now but...........

I've had this before having used Halfords plastic primer for years. I'm sure there are 2 types of primer in the Halfords range, so make sure you get the "plastic" version. Temperature is a factor. I was warming mine up in a measuring jug of quite warm water. I take it out and shake and put it back in to warm again. This makes a considerable difference to the finish. As above perhaps on the day you were just too far away. Lastly I do notice that when the cans coming to an end then it will be different texture. Even if I've got it nicely warmed it can spit. All lessons learned over the years. However 2 years ago I started flattening down the primer coat with a high grade paper prior to colouring. It makes a massive difference.

I finished this last year and what felt like a tonne of research before hand and during. The black RAM was applied to the second wave of jets when they were turned around. Some had it painted over as can be seen through wear. Also some ai4craft stay3d out there, so look at the jet you're modelling. Remember there was months of build up before it started. I can't tell you now as I write this but I did mine sand, which means I must have got it from somewhere. Steve

That's disappointing when the box art is USN/USMC. Thanks for posting H. It's a shame at €340 (plus postage?) there may be a need to purchase AM. At that price it should want for nothing.

KW & QC should never be mentioned in the same sentence.

Hi all. I'm unsure if this goes in this category but couldn't find a more appropriate one. So here goes. I'm starting to think of purchasing a couple of 1:18 cars. But visiting the usual website to gauge prices; as I know nothing about the brands, but like all of us have an eye for detail. Now whilst searching I've come across brands - HPI, IXO, Sun Star etc. Now would those with knowledge be able to give advice on what's what. I don't want to join a diecast forum for what will be really a couple of questions.

I personally think you've dodged a bullet with the kits-world decals, as I don't rate them at all. They'll devalue your excellent build, so silver lining and all that.
