  1. Seen this site? https://www.abct.org.uk/airfield-buildings/control-towers/ I built the Airfix Control Tower a little while ago with the Flightpath upgrade - and had a lot of fun - but I was lucky to find it and I think it may be almost impossible to get now. all the best Mark
  2. There are a few reference images but they are all external - none of the cockpit I've just realised I also have the Squadron/Signal Walk Around (no. 22) on the Fw 190A/F which has plenty of internal images.
  3. I have this but haven't yet used it and can't really comment on accuracy. In general though I like these Osprey publications. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Modelling-Focke-Wulf-Fw-190-Osprey/dp/1841769355/ref=sr_1_2?crid=1RNT7HTX4E9Q5&keywords=osprey+modelling&qid=1684148125&s=books&sprefix=osprey+modelling%2Cstripbooks%2C75&sr=1-2&asin=1841769355&revisionId=&format=4&depth=1 Good luck Mark
  4. I have given a good deal of careful thought about this and can now announce that nothing I do is dumb. I have, very smartly I believe, set my own bar lower than the lowest thing ever.
  5. Welcome. Sorry to hear about your problem. Sounds tricky to resolve and depends a lot on what you have used so far. I would suggest posting the question in the 'Paint' section. Here: https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/forum/16-paint/ Good luck Mark
  6. These? https://www.hannants.co.uk/product/BUC-24016?result-token=A99P2
  7. Can't help with your query I'm afraid but a suggestion: Post it in the WW2 section. Here: https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/forum/23-aircraft-wwii/ Edit: Oops - you already have.
  8. My wife and I are working our way slowly through this (that's me more than she). Just great. It's difficult to describe without giving any spoilers but this is wonderful comedy with the occasional "I can't quite believe they did that" moment - like the opening scene from episode two - never seen that (or heard of it) before. Mark (still smiling)
  9. Another vote for yellow masking tape like Eduard's rather than the vinyl ones like Montex. I used Montex masks on a 1:72 Anson and overnight they pealed off the curved surfaces. Like this: I replaced the Montex masks with Eduard ones and they worked perfectly. Also I Iove the metal gun barrels from Master. Simply cut off the old barrel, drill a small hole, insert the metal one - perfect. It is definitely worth replacing the kit barrels in my view. Good luck Mark
  10. So this was 208 sqn which fortunately provides a fair amount of detail in their Operations Record Books - held online at the National Archives. The January Record of Events document shows that PT950 suffered from an engine failure on 22nd January. Look for page 22. There may be more info in the Summary of Events for January. Here: https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/results/r?_q=208&_dss=range&_sd=1945&_ed=1945&_ser=AIR 27&id=C2082 The ORBs for 208 sqn record the pilots name and plane serial number (this varied a lot) but not the code letter so we aren't any closer to that yet. The best place to find that may be your great uncle's log book - would you know where that might be? With regards to a decal for the serial number I would use a generic sheet and cut out the individual letters - Aviaeology make some - like this: https://www.hannants.co.uk/product/AOD48C04?result-token=NyWwr Good luck Mark
  11. Looks very similar. I can't really get a photo as the door on their little cupboard is angled away from where I stand and only slightly open - just enough for a little bird to get in and out - I cant see in at all and can't open it any further without upsetting them. Maybe I need a system of mirrors. Thanks for the pics. Mark
  12. For some reason I thought the female didn't have a red breast - I probably got that from thinking about male and female blackbirds. So this little thing was brown-ish all over and about the size of a sparrow or a bit smaller. Some research is called for. Mark
  13. A robin (I think that's what it is) has built a nest just inside the door of my shed. Both of us got a heck of a shock about ten days ago when I opened the shed door and this little brown bird shot out of a small cupboard on the wall. Straight past my face to the far wall where I think she gets in and out just below the roof. After the shock I had a big smile on my face - she (I assume a she) is still there and I try to be as careful and quiet as I can. They will be nice and safe in there. I like robins. Mark
  14. Discussion here in case you missed it:
  15. Not really my topic (more the main topic of the thread) but Aero Legends are now offering customer flights in their two BAC Strikemasters: https://www.aerolegends.co.uk/experiences/fly-a-fighter-jet/ I think they will probably also be displaying at the airshow at Headcorn. Mark
  16. How about adding black to dark grey rather than the other way around?
  17. Isn't the Italeri kit the same one as boxed by Revell and which have their origins in the 1970s?
  18. A splendid way to introduce yourself. Congratulations. That's a neat idea mixing a couple of historical images in with the model. all the best Mark
  19. I've found that working on a hard surface is a great help - I use a kitchen ceramic tile - both for cutting off the fret and as a base for bending. Hold the p.e. down firmly and use a knife blade to bend. For example if you need a curve bend round a cocktail stick. Alternatively hold the p.e. firmly with a pair of tweezers and use the knife blade to bend. A piece of blu tac on the end of a cocktail stick is handy to keep track of the little things. I suspect the metal ruler may work if the underlying surface is hard and flat but it seems a bit too large to me. This might seem a strange suggestion but have you tried a finger (pointing downwards) to hold the p.e. in place and then use the blade to bend the p.e. up against your finger nail? Re-reading this it's a bit of a brain dump but hopefully helpful. Good luck Mark
  20. Thank you for trying to bring this thread back to the main point from the original post. We really don't need to be repeatedly lectured and I must admit I found the tone of some of that rather strange. Thanks again Mark
  21. Welcome. Can you give a hint about what interests you in this wonderful hobby? Mark
  22. I have a desktop (I like the larger screen and full sized keyboard) which is about five years old and is not capable of running Windows 11 (according to periodic Microsoft messages). Windows 10 takes a while to wind up but it's fine when it has got over the initial wheezes and coughs. I'm not surprised by this - each generation of Windows needs a lot more hardware resources than the previous - and I would have been surprised if I could run it. I'll stick with Windows 10 for a while yet - I just allow it a peaceful few minutes or twenty to start up Mark
