  1. Same comments apply here as in your wip, plus you've made a very realistic job of the tilt tie downs, considering that they are moulded on. Nice one. John.
  2. Nice work on the MWD. If only they would upgrade it to 1/35th scale. You probably already know this, but toothpaste is excellent for polishing clear plastic. I used to use it on canopies. John.
  3. Thanks Pat. The wheels will probably be the last things to go on as the attachment points are a little on the weak side, especially the front ones. I cut them off and reattached them to allow the wheels to steer to the right. John.
  4. Thanks to you both for the comments. I have to say that I quite like the Mickey Mouse ears camouflage. The next Tilly will be a bit simpler though. RE Bomb Disposal colours. John.
  5. I threaded the tie down string through the holes in the bottom of the tilt and then gently eased it into place on the cargo section. To fix it in place, I ran some thin super glue around the inside of the tilt. Unfortunately, the Mig Smart Set doesn't contain the SCC14, so I used Vallejo's Model Air NATO Black. The thought of masking off all of those “ears” didn't fill me with deep joy, so instead of spraying, I brush painted the black, after first lightly drawing in the pattern with a soft lead pencil. Two thin coats and I was satisfied with the result. It's ready now for some gloss varnish and then the decals. Thanks for looking. John.
  6. Hi Richard, I think that your sister is trying to tell you something. Welcome aboard anyway. To post photos on here you need to using a hosting site such as Village Photos or Flickr. If you look in FAQ's, there are a couple of threads telling you how to use them. If you have any problems, just ask. John.
  7. Excellent job on the white wash Steve, and the exhaust stands out nicely. John.
  8. Try using Village Photos or Flikr. There are a couple of threads in FAQ's on how to use them. John.
  9. Welcome aboard Jakub. It's nice to see youth still being interested in model building, and it's good hat your interest is AFV's. If you have any questions, ask and someone on here will probably be able to help you. BTW. It looks as though you've weathered that T-55 turret well. John.
  10. Thanks Rob. As I said earlier, when I compared the finish to the one where I'd used Mike Starmer's mix, I was pleased with the result. One reason why I didn't use the Tamiya mix this time was that I knew that I would have to do some touching up of the paint work, and I don't like brushing Tamiya paint, especially when it's a mixture. John. PS. Thank for the PM and the link.
  11. Lovely model. The finish on it is superb. Nice one. John.
  12. I appreciate the comments. Many thanks. I usually use Mike Starmer's Tamiya mix for the SCC2, but I compared the two finishes together and there doesn't appear to be any difference, so I'm happy with the Mig paint. John.
  13. All parts were primed with Halfords acrylic grey primer car spray from a rattle can. The version that I had chosen to do was the one from the 51st (Highland) Infantry Division and this would be SCC2 Brown and SCC14 Black for the Mickey Mouse camouflage. I had MIG's Smart Set for the British ETO colours, 1939-45 which contained the SCC2. Two thin coats were airbrushed on and then it was put aside to dry. Before assembling all of the parts and before applying the black cammo, there was some detail painting that needed doing. I painted the engine block with Tamiya XF5 Flat Green and then picked out the wiring, fan belt and other small parts with black. The seats were painted with a dark tan colour and when it was all dry everything was given a brown wash. Before fixing the seats in place, I dry brushed them with a lighter tan. Last job was to add the two instrument decals. .........and starting to come together. Next up will be the tilt and the tie down ropes. Thanks for looking. John.
  14. Good grief!! How can you work in such a tidy space? I'd never be able to find anything! John.
  15. For a first AFV build that is stunning. Paint job and weathering are first class. Any mistakes are not yours, they are Tamiya's!! But it's still a reasonably good kit. John.
  16. If it's your first AFV model and you want to do something allied, I would recommend any one of Tamiya's Sherman kits. They do several including the M4, M4A3 and M4A3 (105mm) from their older catalogue, and then the IDF M51 and M1 Super Sherman as well as one of their latest, the M4A3E8. They are all good kits and go together well without any vices. John.
  17. Excellent build. I like the war weary look. John.
  18. Lovely Dog House. That's a great build and finish. John.
  19. If you google "M48 in Vietnam", it'll bring up loads of photos, some in colour. John.
  20. Excellent work on both the model and the base. Nice one. John.
  21. Whatever the rights and wrongs of the lens, the Chieftain looks great.....and so does the cat! John.
  22. Love the scratch building on this. Great work. John.
  23. Ditto what Jim said. It could easily be taken for 1/35th scale. Nice one. John.
  24. Lovely job. Just the right amount of dirt to make it look real. John.
