  1. Ravenscourt Park
  2. The spine of the Spiteful / Seafang is diffent to late mk Spitfires , as the cockpit was raised giving the Seafang a more humped back appearence .
  3. WWII , British , Humber armoured car , probably a Mk II from the Matchbox kit .
  4. We recently moved house , so I contacted our broadband supplier , who assured me that our service could be transferred in 2 weeks . Then everything starts to go pear shaped , firstly Openreach told us that full fibre wsa not availible in our area . But , I explained to them , "we only live in a small village , we've only moved 50 yards from our previous house , and I can see the broadband pole from my window ,opposite side of the road ." . Then they claimed we hav'nt got a registered address , this took two months to sort out and convince Openreach . Several appointments and cancellations later , each cancellation meaning you have to go back through the entire ordering process , two engineers arrive and connect the broadband cable to our cottage . Several appointmants to connect the interior equipment are then cancelled , because the outside work is not done . I then have to convince Openreach that the exterior cable is indeed in place. Eventually an Openreach contractor arrives , "I've come to fit your Broadband cable " he says , "Good not before time " , " But its already done " he says . Yes , he had come to fit the external connection again , " I've got another job to go to , but will come back later with my boss " , engineer leaves . Later he returns with his boss , turns out his other job was already done as well , so they test my connection and leave ' Eventually ,after more phone calls and time , an engineer arrives and finally connects our service . Openreach blame subcontractors , subcontractors blame Openreach . What was originally claimed would take two weeks, eventually was completed in six months , I'm never moving home again' Andrew PS having seen Openreach in action first hand , I can quite believe they would connect mains power to a fibre optic cable .
  5. As has already been mentioned , the Type S finishes , used by RAF aircraft , S standing for smooth , had an eggshell finish rather than gloss . For a model , even in larger scales I would say a very slight sheen is appropriate . Some fighters would have been polished by their groundcrew , with the hope of gaining a few extra mph of speed , but even these would not have a high gloss . Personally I would opt for a very light spray of your favourit satin finish .
  6. As has already been said "flux" , I was useless at soldering until I realised you need plenty of flux . I've also find that you need a small amout of solder on the tip of your iron to help the heat to transfer and ensure a successful bond .
  7. Yes there was a 33% overload but that did not stop Churchills being carried on occasion . The" Manual of Recovery " from 1944 states that , the Churchill could be carried in "very special circumstances" which included increasing the tyre presures of both the trailer and tractor , and very precise positioning of the tank to maintain the centre of gravity . The Sherman M4A4 firefly weighed in at 34 tons , yet was commonly seen carried by a 30ton Scammell. When needs must !
  8. No the Supermarine 508 , which I presume in the aircraft you refer to as the Scimitar prototype , had a totally difference wing than the Spiteful or Attacker . Being a much larger and heavier twin engine aircraft the wing had an increased span and area compared to the earlier aircraft .
  9. For any MAFVA members , there has been a series of Cromwell articles running lately , shows variants of hatches, engine decks and much more , also how to correct the various kits . Should be availible as back issues , well worth joining for this and much more . Concensus seems to be that the Tamiya kits is the most dimensionally accurate and also the easiest built out of the box .
  10. Much better than the remake ,anyway .
  11. According to US military vehicle experts , such as Steve Zaloga , Us olive drab is in fact a brown colour , not green . [ although ,I admit it always looks green to my eyes } Mr Zaloga suggests in most of his writings that you use Tamiya Olive Drab XF62 suitably lightened with XF60 desert sand , for a scale model .
  12. Beautiful model ; That will be Nivo , not Olive Drab .
  13. The white turret roof was an air recognition feature used in the Normandy campaign , it was meant to be applied to all british AFV's , but oviously wasn't . However, study of photographs show that it was more widespead than most may think , at least one Cromwell knocked out at Villers Bocage can be seen to have the white roof , and it can also be seen on a well known photo of a Staghound ACin Brusells . The more you start looking for it ,the more you will find .
  14. blue background with three white triangles sounds like the sign garages display for MOT testing service .
  15. Probably a Case model D . very similar to this one . https://imgur.com/a/IJUT6nt
