GWH 1/48 Su-35SK "Flanker E" PLAAF 6th Brigade
haneto replied to haneto's topic in Work in Progress - Aircraft
Thanks guys for digging this out. Can't believe 8 years alreay passed, OMG, time flies! I used Creos Mr. Color lacquer paint, with their #1500 lacuqer surfacer(primer). It's the best and most stable paint I have ever used, over the past 20 more years. Highly recommended! -

The cannon panel needs adjustment/rescribing as well.
-
You can refer to below photo. It well describes the relative position and the angel of the 2nd panel line against the 1st panel line.

They have their homepage on Facebook, direclty run by the designer himself. https://www.facebook.com/mcc3dp Regarding Italeri ADV, I dont have the kit but from what the built work by others on Internet, have to say not very impressive. A Revell kit with correct nose will easily beat it down. It looks OK-ish for me. I was too lazy to put the windshiled and canopy on, when I took these photos 3 or 4 years ago, but I remember it looks even better after installing the clear parts to check the overall profile of the front fuselage.

Hi guys Thanks for digging this out. Tornado F.3 is exactly the project which I want to kick off by most interest, so maybe I will start it after building 3 Flankers. Regarding nose, yes the Revell kit is wrong as pointed out here. After some research with Jersey/MCC owner, we summarized the mistakes by 2 points: 1. The position of panels between fuselage and radome, is wrong on the Revell kit. 2. The curve staring point(panel) is wrong on the Revell kit. Let me show you some evidence: So radome of Tornado F.2/F.3 is a whole conical part with NO curve, as you can see from below photos: And the curve, between fuselage and radome, actually start at the end of this part. But Revell makes it starting from the previous panel. So after all, the replacement of the radome part, which is not exactly broken as the real aircraft part in real world, will not solve the problem. The whole front area, including the radome and partial fuselage, needs to be modified. MCC was so kind to customize design the prototype parts for me, which shall be the best answer to solve this issue(at least for me). Wish they can make mass production of it in the near future. Cheers,

The GWH Su-30SM used some major parts such as intake/engine nozzle from previous Su-35 kit, to save the mold cutting cost, which makes it a bit less accurate than other GWH Flanker members. Also a little bit panel line error such as the vertical one on left vertical fin which could be easily corrected with some ordinary modelling material/tools for an aircraft modeler. Shape wise, I'm quite confident to say there shall be no issue. The nose shape of Su-27, Su-30 and Su-35 is totally same proportion, so if you say Su-30 nose is wrong, then it must be wrong for Su-27 and Su-35 too. Besides, we used original Sukhoi plans provided by our Russian resource, as well as tons of CAD/real life photos comparison from different angles during R&D, to assure the proportion spot on. So the critique to the shape wise accuracy, does not really make sense to us who involved in the R&D of GWH Flanker kits. I'm very curious how the new tooled 48 scale Zvezda kit will differentiate itself from GWH. Hopefully it will be in full rivet tooling, or the workload for surface detailing, will be too huge for modellers.

Indian Airforce Su-30MKI w/Brahmos - GWH 1/48
haneto replied to Marlin's topic in Work in Progress - Aircraft
Unfortunately the photos you refered are mockup Brahmos missiles with mockup pylons. The real Brahmos should be mounted into belly like this. You can clearly find its postion against the nose gear and intakes. This is when IAF lauched the missile for test. It clearly shows that the missile is closer to belly, compared with your photos. You can also find the pylon specifically designed for Brahmos. And also the reinforcement mounting structure added on the belly. -
No, they are very minor errors, especially very few will notice the main gear bays once you finish the model, so the cost performance of (expensive and time consuming) mold revision vs (less visible) finished effect is too low.

Here you go. No UB in plan. The tank in 48 scale was correct too, did not change that in 72 scale. While most of shape issue of 48 scale has been fixed.

haneto started following F-16CG Block 40 "Night Falcon" 555th FS "Triple Nickel" May 1999
-
Hello everyone It has been a while since my last post. This work I want to present to you, was finished during Shanghai lock down in 2022. Although the number of works completed in last year is only two, which is the lowest score in terms of quantity, I am now comforting myself with the two works that I am very satisfied with in terms of quality. One of them is this "Downed Bald Eagle" F-16CG Block 40 US Air Force 555th FS Commander's plane. The base kit is Tamiya's 1/48 F-16C/N "Aggressor", modified to Block 40 F-16CG. Aftermarket parts include Fabscale's F110 nozzle, Orange Hobby's metal and resin AIM-120B missile, Eduard's resin GBU-24 bomb, AN/ALQ-131, AN/AAQ-13 and AN/AAQ-14 pods, Master metal dischargers. The AIM-9L "Sidewinder" missile is by AMK parts. Well, the key feature of this work is the background and its history. -Reproduced the aircraft of Mr. David Goldfine, commander of the 555th Regiment of the US Air Force stationed at Aviano, Italy, which was shot down in "Operation Allied Force" on May 2, 1999. He was rescued immediately after being shot down, and after that he was able to rise to the rank of 4-star general. The mounted armament is the position at the time of the mission that was shot down(not quite sure since I did not find exact reference from Internet), and the painting is also based on the advice of a former 555th regiment official, recreating the moment of the last takeoff before being shot down. Another interesting thing was that a friend in Serbia sent me some of the wreckage of this plane, so I custom-ordered a wooden base and exhibited it together with the work. I am very grateful to him for his kindness. By the way, the wreckage of this shot down aircraft is still exhibited in the museum in Belgrade, the capital of the Republic of Serbia. For modelers, it was a great blessing to be able to make friends on both the American side and the Serbian side through modeling. That may be the true charm of scale models. Thank you for watching.

Thank you! Actually the APA-5D is not a Maz, but a Ural truck chasis.
