Its all good Rob. I've part-built this kit before so I know there are a few wrinkles with its assembly but its nothing to be afraid of. My usual challenge with modelling, i.e. painting the thing, is simplied with an overall white scheme. Phil.

You know how we modellers are supposed to have a wonderful eye for detail? Well, last night I spent a couple of hours online looking at such details as air intake lips and ramp doors, thrust reverser mountings and ADF aerial fairings. I then looked back at my sprue photos and realised the centre wing/lower fuselage part of my kit is grossly short-shot on its starboard side at the front and on the wing leading edge. I'm going to switch the entire sprue set with another example of this same kit which doesn't have this problem. S'funny what you notice and what you don't. Phil.

Thanks Minion. I count myself lucky enough to have watched the first passenger-carrying flights live on TV in 1976 (at primary school on that big TV in the school hall). I then saw a Concorde many times over my parents' back garden in north London as well as several times at airshows in the 80s and 90s. I never could quite justify the £1500 or so to fly around the Bay of Biscay but I sure wish now that I had. When I pulled this kit box from the loft, I discovered it contained 2 of my part-started copies of this kit as well as this unstarted one. Its high time I completed a batch of models of this beautiful bird. Phil.

Afternoon all. Here's my hat in the ring. Revell's venerable Concorde kit in 1/144. I suppose its doubly appropriate for this GB since it was tooled in 1991. The kit gives decals for both the Landor scheme and the final Union Flag livery. The changeover happened during 1998 (or so I've read) so both work for this GB. I haven't yet decided which to go for. I'm going to make a few improvements to the kit in the engine intake/exhaust department and perhaps the windscreen/visor area. We'll see how it goes. Any road up, I know which colour I neex to paint the thing! Phil.

Top choice. I think the kit's wings are the low-drag type used at Hockenheim and maybe Monza but you could always modify them for other races. Looking forward to seeing what you do with this one. Phil.

Afternoon all. Here's my entry for this grand GB. It cost me £9.75 second hand from Kingkit and currently retails for not much more. Here we go: I'm planning to finish it in the 3rd scheme of VMA(AW)-115. The out-of-the-box-ness of this GB happily takes out of my hands questions of the accuracy of the bang seat and mainwheels for this chosen machine. I might do something with the slats and pitch trimming control surfaces but we'll see what happens. Phil.

Great choice. You might want to take another look at the decal sheet in your example of this kit though. It looks like an early copy which has a print layer missing. I had the same issue but Revell replaced my decal sheet with a corrected one, not only quickly but free as well. This one came with the kit: This is the replacement: The wing panels and the window surrounds are grey or missing on the kit one but properly metallic on the replacement: I filled in the form here https://www.revell-service.de/en/spare-parts-service/ and sent a photo of the sheet. The replacement came inside a fortnight. We aren't the only ones who had this issue. It was discussed on BM last year. I'm looking forward to your build and I hope this helps. Phil.

Too right it is Col! Count me in please. For me it might be the old Airfix 1/72 T1 kit or their more recent Mk 100, Revell's 1/32 or 1/72 new 'un, Italeri's 1/48 T1, Academy's long-nosed Mk 67 reboxing of the same or perhaps Kinetic's 1/48 T-45 Goshawk. Then comes the choice of scheme and decal options... I may need a year's notice to make up my mind. 😄 Phil.

Mossie NF Mk.II - Any colour so long as its black

You might want to consider one or two of them for basic colours and see what you think. Their convenience and lightning-fast drying time were major pluses for me. If you build any RAF WWII types, I highly recommend the grey-green one. I haven't seen coverage and smoothness in a paint since my old Humbrol Authentic HM4 German Panzer Grey! Phil. -

Its all good experience Peter. I'm definitely sold on them for their performance on the interior of my Mosquito. They are also incredibly convenient and therefore, more likely to be used. I just bought Airfix's new Mosquito B.XVI / B.35 / TT.35 boxing so the markers make me far more likely to build that now and paint & decal it at the same time as this Tamiya F Mk.II. There will be an RFI sometime soon for both Phil -

Good question Adrian. I might try that before using the Revell Aqua. I'll try them. I'm going to need a new flat black marker soon! Phil -

After a 3.30 start the fuselage and attached tailplanes were attacked with the black marker. I've concluded that this colouring-in attempt hasn't worked but I'm highly impressed with these markers when used for their intended purpose. Don't think I'll push to complete this by tomorrow night. I'm working daytime tomorrow and there is too much left to be done. I'll continue with the props and undercarriage assemblies but I think I'll take my time with some Revell Aqua matt black in the coming days. It'll probably take just one or two thin brushed on coats over the black marker to even it out. Pity really. The AK flat black marker gives a sheen and texture which simulates Special Night very well. I will finish off this lovely little kit though. Oh, its 5.30 now. Phil.- 25 replies

An 11.00 start and time to clean up the fuselage. Even with a quality Tamiya kit I managed to create a need for some filling and sanding. A combo of runner-reinforced CA glue and accelerator helped time-wise. I've committed to using AK's flat black marker for the airframe. Like a thinned brush-painted paint, it needs multiple coats but each dries very quickly and is very thin so there's no real pain build-up in derails and panel lines. Here's how the wings look so far. Anyway, its 2.30 and time for lunch. Phil.
